Verse 1
تَبَّتْ يَدَآ أَبِى لَهَبٍ وَتَبَّ
Transliteration tabbat yadā abī lahabin watabba
Dutch Vernietigd zijn de twee handen van Aboe Lahab en vernietigd is hij!
Verse 2
مَآ أَغْنَىٰ عَنْهُ مَالُهُۥ وَمَا كَسَبَ
Transliteration mā aghnā ʿanhu māluhu wamā kasaba
Dutch Zijn bezit en wat hij voortbracht zal hem niet baten.
Verse 3
سَيَصْلَىٰ نَارًا ذَاتَ لَهَبٍ
Transliteration sayaṣlā nāran dhāta lahabin
Dutch Hij zal een vuur van vlammen (de Hel) binnengaan.
Verse 4
وَٱمْرَأَتُهُۥ حَمَّالَةَ ٱلْحَطَبِ
Transliteration wa-im'ra-atuhu ḥammālata l-ḥaṭabi
Dutch En ook zijn vrouw, die het hout aandraagt.
Verse 5
فِى جِيدِهَا حَبْلٌ مِّن مَّسَدٍۭ
Transliteration fī jīdihā ḥablun min masadin
Dutch Om haar nek is een touw van palmvezels gebonden.
