Surah Al-Ma'idah in English: word by word, transliteration

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

Transliteration bis'mi l-lahi l-raḥmāni l-raḥīmi

English In the name of Allāh, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.

1. بِسْمِbis'miIn (the) name
2. ٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allah
3. ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِl-raḥmānithe Most Gracious
4. ٱلرَّحِيمِl-raḥīmithe Most Merciful

يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ أَوْفُوا۟ بِٱلْعُقُودِ ۚ أُحِلَّتْ لَكُم بَهِيمَةُ ٱلْأَنْعَـٰمِ إِلَّا مَا يُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْكُمْ غَيْرَ مُحِلِّى ٱلصَّيْدِ وَأَنتُمْ حُرُمٌ ۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَحْكُمُ مَا يُرِيدُ

Transliteration yāayyuhā alladhīna āmanū awfū bil-ʿuqūdi uḥillat lakum bahīmatu l-anʿāmi illā mā yut'lā ʿalaykum ghayra muḥillī l-ṣaydi wa-antum ḥurumun inna l-laha yaḥkumu mā yurīdu

English O you who have believed, fulfill [all] contracts. Lawful for you are the animals of grazing livestock except for that which is recited to you [in this Qur’ān] - hunting not being permitted while you are in the state of iḥrām. Indeed, Allāh ordains what He intends.

1. يَـٰٓأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO
2. ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnayou (who)
3. ءَامَنُوٓا۟āmanūbelieve
4. أَوْفُوا۟awfūFulfil
5. بِٱلْعُقُودِ ۚbil-ʿuqūdithe contracts
6. أُحِلَّتْuḥillatAre made lawful
7. لَكُمlakumfor you
8. بَهِيمَةُbahīmatuthe quadruped
9. ٱلْأَنْعَـٰمِl-anʿāmi(of) the grazing livestock
10. إِلَّاillāexcept
11. مَاmāwhat
12. يُتْلَىٰyut'lāis recited
13. عَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumon you
14. غَيْرَghayranot
15. مُحِلِّىmuḥillībeing permitted
16. ٱلصَّيْدِl-ṣaydi(to) hunt
17. وَأَنتُمْwa-antumwhile you
18. حُرُمٌ ۗḥurumun(are in) Ihram
19. إِنَّinnaIndeed
20. ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
21. يَحْكُمُyaḥkumudecrees
22. مَاmāwhat
23. يُرِيدُyurīduHe wills

يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا تُحِلُّوا۟ شَعَـٰٓئِرَ ٱللَّهِ وَلَا ٱلشَّهْرَ ٱلْحَرَامَ وَلَا ٱلْهَدْىَ وَلَا ٱلْقَلَـٰٓئِدَ وَلَآ ءَآمِّينَ ٱلْبَيْتَ ٱلْحَرَامَ يَبْتَغُونَ فَضْلًا مِّن رَّبِّهِمْ وَرِضْوَٰنًا ۚ وَإِذَا حَلَلْتُمْ فَٱصْطَادُوا۟ ۚ وَلَا يَجْرِمَنَّكُمْ شَنَـَٔانُ قَوْمٍ أَن صَدُّوكُمْ عَنِ ٱلْمَسْجِدِ ٱلْحَرَامِ أَن تَعْتَدُوا۟ ۘ وَتَعَاوَنُوا۟ عَلَى ٱلْبِرِّ وَٱلتَّقْوَىٰ ۖ وَلَا تَعَاوَنُوا۟ عَلَى ٱلْإِثْمِ وَٱلْعُدْوَٰنِ ۚ وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ ۖ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ شَدِيدُ ٱلْعِقَابِ

Transliteration yāayyuhā alladhīna āmanū lā tuḥillū shaʿāira l-lahi walā l-shahra l-ḥarāma walā l-hadya walā l-qalāida walā āmmīna l-bayta l-ḥarāma yabtaghūna faḍlan min rabbihim wariḍ'wānan wa-idhā ḥalaltum fa-iṣ'ṭādū walā yajrimannakum shanaānu qawmin an ṣaddūkum ʿani l-masjidi l-ḥarāmi an taʿtadū wataʿāwanū ʿalā l-biri wal-taqwā walā taʿāwanū ʿalā l-ith'mi wal-ʿud'wāni wa-ittaqū l-laha inna l-laha shadīdu l-ʿiqābi

English O you who have believed, do not violate the rites of Allāh or [the sanctity of] the sacred month or [neglect the marking of] the sacrificial animals and garlanding [them] or [violate the safety of] those coming to the Sacred House seeking bounty from their Lord and [His] approval. But when you come out of iḥrām, then [you may] hunt. And do not let the hatred of a people for having obstructed you from al-Masjid al-Ḥarām lead you to transgress. And cooperate in righteousness and piety, but do not cooperate in sin and aggression. And fear Allāh; indeed, Allāh is severe in penalty.

5. تُحِلُّوا۟tuḥillūviolate
6. شَعَـٰٓئِرَshaʿāira(the) rites
7. ٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allah
8. وَلَاwalāand not
9. ٱلشَّهْرَl-shahrathe month
10. ٱلْحَرَامَl-ḥarāmathe sacred
11. وَلَاwalāand not
12. ٱلْهَدْىَl-hadyathe sacrificial animals
13. وَلَاwalāand not
14. ٱلْقَلَـٰٓئِدَl-qalāidathe garlanded
15. وَلَآwalāand not
16. ءَآمِّينَāmmīna(those) coming
17. ٱلْبَيْتَl-bayta(to) the House
18. ٱلْحَرَامَl-ḥarāmathe Sacred
19. يَبْتَغُونَyabtaghūnaseeking
20. فَضْلًۭاfaḍlanBounty
21. مِّنminof
22. رَّبِّهِمْrabbihimtheir Lord
23. وَرِضْوَٰنًۭا ۚwariḍ'wānanand good pleasure
24. وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd when
25. حَلَلْتُمْḥalaltumyou come out of Ihram
26. فَٱصْطَادُوا۟ ۚfa-iṣ'ṭādūthen (you may) hunt
27. وَلَاwalāAnd let not
28. يَجْرِمَنَّكُمْyajrimannakumincite you
29. شَنَـَٔانُshanaānu(the) hatred
30. قَوْمٍqawmin(for) a people
31. أَنanas
32. صَدُّوكُمْṣaddūkumthey stopped you
33. عَنِʿanifrom
34. ٱلْمَسْجِدِl-masjidiAl-Masjid
35. ٱلْحَرَامِl-ḥarāmiAl-Haraam
36. أَنanthat
37. تَعْتَدُوا۟ ۘtaʿtadūyou commit transgression
38. وَتَعَاوَنُوا۟wataʿāwanūAnd help one another
39. عَلَىʿalāin
40. ٱلْبِرِّl-biri[the] righteousness
41. وَٱلتَّقْوَىٰ ۖwal-taqwāand [the] piety
42. وَلَاwalābut (do) not
43. تَعَاوَنُوا۟taʿāwanūhelp one another
44. عَلَىʿalāin
45. ٱلْإِثْمِl-ith'mi[the] sin
46. وَٱلْعُدْوَٰنِ ۚwal-ʿud'wāniand [the] transgression
47. وَٱتَّقُوا۟wa-ittaqūAnd fear
48. ٱللَّهَ ۖl-lahaAllah
49. إِنَّinnaindeed
50. ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
51. شَدِيدُshadīdu(is) severe
52. ٱلْعِقَابِl-ʿiqābi(in) [the] punishment

حُرِّمَتْ عَلَيْكُمُ ٱلْمَيْتَةُ وَٱلدَّمُ وَلَحْمُ ٱلْخِنزِيرِ وَمَآ أُهِلَّ لِغَيْرِ ٱللَّهِ بِهِۦ وَٱلْمُنْخَنِقَةُ وَٱلْمَوْقُوذَةُ وَٱلْمُتَرَدِّيَةُ وَٱلنَّطِيحَةُ وَمَآ أَكَلَ ٱلسَّبُعُ إِلَّا مَا ذَكَّيْتُمْ وَمَا ذُبِحَ عَلَى ٱلنُّصُبِ وَأَن تَسْتَقْسِمُوا۟ بِٱلْأَزْلَـٰمِ ۚ ذَٰلِكُمْ فِسْقٌ ۗ ٱلْيَوْمَ يَئِسَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ مِن دِينِكُمْ فَلَا تَخْشَوْهُمْ وَٱخْشَوْنِ ۚ ٱلْيَوْمَ أَكْمَلْتُ لَكُمْ دِينَكُمْ وَأَتْمَمْتُ عَلَيْكُمْ نِعْمَتِى وَرَضِيتُ لَكُمُ ٱلْإِسْلَـٰمَ دِينًا ۚ فَمَنِ ٱضْطُرَّ فِى مَخْمَصَةٍ غَيْرَ مُتَجَانِفٍ لِّإِثْمٍ ۙ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ

Transliteration ḥurrimat ʿalaykumu l-maytatu wal-damu walaḥmu l-khinzīri wamā uhilla lighayri l-lahi bihi wal-mun'khaniqatu wal-mawqūdhatu wal-mutaradiyatu wal-naṭīḥatu wamā akala l-sabuʿu illā mā dhakkaytum wamā dhubiḥa ʿalā l-nuṣubi wa-an tastaqsimū bil-azlāmi dhālikum fis'qun l-yawma ya-isa alladhīna kafarū min dīnikum falā takhshawhum wa-ikh'shawni l-yawma akmaltu lakum dīnakum wa-atmamtu ʿalaykum niʿ'matī waraḍītu lakumu l-is'lāma dīnan famani uḍ'ṭurra fī makhmaṣatin ghayra mutajānifin li-ith'min fa-inna l-laha ghafūrun raḥīmun

English Prohibited to you are dead animals, blood, the flesh of swine, and that which has been dedicated to other than Allāh, and [those animals] killed by strangling or by a violent blow or by a head-long fall or by the goring of horns, and those from which a wild animal has eaten, except what you [are able to] slaughter [before its death], and those which are sacrificed on stone altars, and [prohibited is] that you seek decision through divining arrows. That is grave disobedience. This day those who disbelieve have despaired of [defeating] your religion; so fear them not, but fear Me. This day I have perfected for you your religion and completed My favor upon you and have approved for you Islām as religion. But whoever is forced by severe hunger with no inclination to sin - then indeed, Allāh is Forgiving and Merciful.

1. حُرِّمَتْḥurrimatAre made unlawful
2. عَلَيْكُمُʿalaykumuon you
3. ٱلْمَيْتَةُl-maytatuthe dead animals
4. وَٱلدَّمُwal-damuand the blood
5. وَلَحْمُwalaḥmuand flesh
6. ٱلْخِنزِيرِl-khinzīri(of) the swine
7. وَمَآwamāand what
8. أُهِلَّuhillahas been dedicated
9. لِغَيْرِlighayrito other than
10. ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
11. بِهِۦbihi[on it]
12. وَٱلْمُنْخَنِقَةُwal-mun'khaniqatuand that which is strangled (to death)
13. وَٱلْمَوْقُوذَةُwal-mawqūdhatuand that which is hit fatally
14. وَٱلْمُتَرَدِّيَةُwal-mutaradiyatuand that which has a fatal fall
15. وَٱلنَّطِيحَةُwal-naṭīḥatuand that which is gored by horns
16. وَمَآwamāand that which
17. أَكَلَakalaate (it)
18. ٱلسَّبُعُl-sabuʿuthe wild animal
19. إِلَّاillāexcept
20. مَاmāwhat
21. ذَكَّيْتُمْdhakkaytumyou slaughtered
22. وَمَاwamāand what
23. ذُبِحَdhubiḥais sacrificed
24. عَلَىʿalāon
25. ٱلنُّصُبِl-nuṣubithe stone altars
26. وَأَنwa-anand that
27. تَسْتَقْسِمُوا۟tastaqsimūyou seek division
28. بِٱلْأَزْلَـٰمِ ۚbil-azlāmiby divining arrows
29. ذَٰلِكُمْdhālikumthat
30. فِسْقٌ ۗfis'qun(is) grave disobedience
31. ٱلْيَوْمَl-yawmaThis day
32. يَئِسَya-isa(have) despaired
33. ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
34. كَفَرُوا۟kafarūdisbelieved
35. مِنminof
36. دِينِكُمْdīnikumyour religion
37. فَلَاfalāso (do) not
38. تَخْشَوْهُمْtakhshawhumfear them
39. وَٱخْشَوْنِ ۚwa-ikh'shawnibut fear Me
40. ٱلْيَوْمَl-yawmaThis day
41. أَكْمَلْتُakmaltuI have perfected
42. لَكُمْlakumfor you
43. دِينَكُمْdīnakumyour religion
44. وَأَتْمَمْتُwa-atmamtuand I have completed
45. عَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumupon you
46. نِعْمَتِىniʿ'matīMy Favor
47. وَرَضِيتُwaraḍītuand I have approved
48. لَكُمُlakumufor you
49. ٱلْإِسْلَـٰمَl-is'lāma[the] Islam
50. دِينًۭا ۚdīnan(as) a religion
51. فَمَنِfamaniBut whoever
52. ٱضْطُرَّuḍ'ṭurra(is) forced
53. فِىfīby
54. مَخْمَصَةٍmakhmaṣatinhunger
55. غَيْرَghayra(and) not
56. مُتَجَانِفٍۢmutajānifininclining
57. لِّإِثْمٍۢ ۙli-ith'minto sin
58. فَإِنَّfa-innathen indeed
59. ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
60. غَفُورٌۭghafūrun(is) Oft-Forgiving
61. رَّحِيمٌۭraḥīmunMost Merciful

يَسْـَٔلُونَكَ مَاذَآ أُحِلَّ لَهُمْ ۖ قُلْ أُحِلَّ لَكُمُ ٱلطَّيِّبَـٰتُ ۙ وَمَا عَلَّمْتُم مِّنَ ٱلْجَوَارِحِ مُكَلِّبِينَ تُعَلِّمُونَهُنَّ مِمَّا عَلَّمَكُمُ ٱللَّهُ ۖ فَكُلُوا۟ مِمَّآ أَمْسَكْنَ عَلَيْكُمْ وَٱذْكُرُوا۟ ٱسْمَ ٱللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ ۖ وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ سَرِيعُ ٱلْحِسَابِ

Transliteration yasalūnaka mādhā uḥilla lahum qul uḥilla lakumu l-ṭayibātu wamā ʿallamtum mina l-jawāriḥi mukallibīna tuʿallimūnahunna mimmā ʿallamakumu l-lahu fakulū mimmā amsakna ʿalaykum wa-udh'kurū is'ma l-lahi ʿalayhi wa-ittaqū l-laha inna l-laha sarīʿu l-ḥisābi

English They ask you, [O Muḥammad], what has been made lawful for them. Say, "Lawful for you are [all] good foods and [game caught by] what you have trained of hunting animals which you train as Allāh has taught you. So eat of what they catch for you, and mention the name of Allāh upon it, and fear Allāh." Indeed, Allāh is swift in account.

1. يَسْـَٔلُونَكَyasalūnakaThey ask you
2. مَاذَآmādhāwhat
3. أُحِلَّuḥilla(is) made lawful
4. لَهُمْ ۖlahumfor them
5. قُلْqulSay
6. أُحِلَّuḥillaAre made lawful
7. لَكُمُlakumufor you
8. ٱلطَّيِّبَـٰتُ ۙl-ṭayibātuthe good things
9. وَمَاwamāand what
10. عَلَّمْتُمʿallamtumyou have taught
11. مِّنَminaof
12. ٱلْجَوَارِحِl-jawāriḥi(your) hunting animals
13. مُكَلِّبِينَmukallibīnaones who train animals to hunt
14. تُعَلِّمُونَهُنَّtuʿallimūnahunnayou teach them
15. مِمَّاmimmāof what
16. عَلَّمَكُمُʿallamakumuhas taught you
17. ٱللَّهُ ۖl-lahuAllah
18. فَكُلُوا۟fakulūSo eat
19. مِمَّآmimmāof what
20. أَمْسَكْنَamsaknathey catch
21. عَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumfor you
22. وَٱذْكُرُوا۟wa-udh'kurūbut mention
23. ٱسْمَis'ma(the) name
24. ٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allah
25. عَلَيْهِ ۖʿalayhion it
26. وَٱتَّقُوا۟wa-ittaqūand fear
27. ٱللَّهَ ۚl-lahaAllah
28. إِنَّinnaIndeed
29. ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
30. سَرِيعُsarīʿuis swift
31. ٱلْحِسَابِl-ḥisābi(in taking) account

ٱلْيَوْمَ أُحِلَّ لَكُمُ ٱلطَّيِّبَـٰتُ ۖ وَطَعَامُ ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُوا۟ ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ حِلٌّ لَّكُمْ وَطَعَامُكُمْ حِلٌّ لَّهُمْ ۖ وَٱلْمُحْصَنَـٰتُ مِنَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنَـٰتِ وَٱلْمُحْصَنَـٰتُ مِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُوا۟ ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ مِن قَبْلِكُمْ إِذَآ ءَاتَيْتُمُوهُنَّ أُجُورَهُنَّ مُحْصِنِينَ غَيْرَ مُسَـٰفِحِينَ وَلَا مُتَّخِذِىٓ أَخْدَانٍ ۗ وَمَن يَكْفُرْ بِٱلْإِيمَـٰنِ فَقَدْ حَبِطَ عَمَلُهُۥ وَهُوَ فِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ مِنَ ٱلْخَـٰسِرِينَ

Transliteration al-yawma uḥilla lakumu l-ṭayibātu waṭaʿāmu alladhīna ūtū l-kitāba ḥillun lakum waṭaʿāmukum ḥillun lahum wal-muḥ'ṣanātu mina l-mu'mināti wal-muḥ'ṣanātu mina alladhīna ūtū l-kitāba min qablikum idhā ātaytumūhunna ujūrahunna muḥ'ṣinīna ghayra musāfiḥīna walā muttakhidhī akhdānin waman yakfur bil-īmāni faqad ḥabiṭa ʿamaluhu wahuwa fī l-ākhirati mina l-khāsirīna

English This day [all] good foods have been made lawful, and the food of those who were given the Scripture is lawful for you and your food is lawful for them. And [lawful in marriage are] chaste women from among the believers and chaste women from among those who were given the Scripture before you, when you have given them their due compensation, desiring chastity, not unlawful sexual intercourse or taking [secret] lovers. And whoever denies the faith - his work has become worthless, and he, in the Hereafter, will be among the losers.

1. ٱلْيَوْمَal-yawmaThis day
2. أُحِلَّuḥillaare made lawful
3. لَكُمُlakumufor you
4. ٱلطَّيِّبَـٰتُ ۖl-ṭayibātuthe good things
5. وَطَعَامُwaṭaʿāmuand (the) food
6. ٱلَّذِينَalladhīna(of) those who
7. أُوتُوا۟ūtūwere given
8. ٱلْكِتَـٰبَl-kitābathe Book
9. حِلٌّۭḥillun(is) lawful
10. لَّكُمْlakumfor you
11. وَطَعَامُكُمْwaṭaʿāmukumand your food
12. حِلٌّۭḥillun(is) lawful
13. لَّهُمْ ۖlahumfor them
14. وَٱلْمُحْصَنَـٰتُwal-muḥ'ṣanātuAnd the chaste women
15. مِنَminafrom
16. ٱلْمُؤْمِنَـٰتِl-mu'minātithe believers
17. وَٱلْمُحْصَنَـٰتُwal-muḥ'ṣanātuand the chaste women
18. مِنَminafrom
19. ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
20. أُوتُوا۟ūtūwere given
21. ٱلْكِتَـٰبَl-kitābathe Book
22. مِنminfrom
23. قَبْلِكُمْqablikumbefore you
24. إِذَآidhāwhen
25. ءَاتَيْتُمُوهُنَّātaytumūhunnayou have given them
26. أُجُورَهُنَّujūrahunnatheir bridal due
27. مُحْصِنِينَmuḥ'ṣinīnabeing chaste
28. غَيْرَghayranot
29. مُسَـٰفِحِينَmusāfiḥīnabeing lewd
30. وَلَاwalāand not
31. مُتَّخِذِىٓmuttakhidhīones (who are) taking
32. أَخْدَانٍۢ ۗakhdāninsecret lovers
33. وَمَنwamanAnd whoever
34. يَكْفُرْyakfurdenies
35. بِٱلْإِيمَـٰنِbil-īmānithe faith
36. فَقَدْfaqadthen surely
37. حَبِطَḥabiṭa(are) wasted
38. عَمَلُهُۥʿamaluhuhis deeds
39. وَهُوَwahuwaand he
40. فِىfīin
41. ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِl-ākhiratithe Hereafter
42. مِنَmina(will be) among
43. ٱلْخَـٰسِرِينَl-khāsirīnathe losers

يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ إِذَا قُمْتُمْ إِلَى ٱلصَّلَوٰةِ فَٱغْسِلُوا۟ وُجُوهَكُمْ وَأَيْدِيَكُمْ إِلَى ٱلْمَرَافِقِ وَٱمْسَحُوا۟ بِرُءُوسِكُمْ وَأَرْجُلَكُمْ إِلَى ٱلْكَعْبَيْنِ ۚ وَإِن كُنتُمْ جُنُبًا فَٱطَّهَّرُوا۟ ۚ وَإِن كُنتُم مَّرْضَىٰٓ أَوْ عَلَىٰ سَفَرٍ أَوْ جَآءَ أَحَدٌ مِّنكُم مِّنَ ٱلْغَآئِطِ أَوْ لَـٰمَسْتُمُ ٱلنِّسَآءَ فَلَمْ تَجِدُوا۟ مَآءً فَتَيَمَّمُوا۟ صَعِيدًا طَيِّبًا فَٱمْسَحُوا۟ بِوُجُوهِكُمْ وَأَيْدِيكُم مِّنْهُ ۚ مَا يُرِيدُ ٱللَّهُ لِيَجْعَلَ عَلَيْكُم مِّنْ حَرَجٍ وَلَـٰكِن يُرِيدُ لِيُطَهِّرَكُمْ وَلِيُتِمَّ نِعْمَتَهُۥ عَلَيْكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَشْكُرُونَ

Transliteration yāayyuhā alladhīna āmanū idhā qum'tum ilā l-ṣalati fa-igh'silū wujūhakum wa-aydiyakum ilā l-marāfiqi wa-im'saḥū biruūsikum wa-arjulakum ilā l-kaʿbayni wa-in kuntum junuban fa-iṭṭahharū wa-in kuntum marḍā aw ʿalā safarin aw jāa aḥadun minkum mina l-ghāiṭi aw lāmastumu l-nisāa falam tajidū māan fatayammamū ṣaʿīdan ṭayyiban fa-im'saḥū biwujūhikum wa-aydīkum min'hu mā yurīdu l-lahu liyajʿala ʿalaykum min ḥarajin walākin yurīdu liyuṭahhirakum waliyutimma niʿ'matahu ʿalaykum laʿallakum tashkurūna

English O you who have believed, when you rise to [perform] prayer, wash your faces and your forearms to the elbows and wipe over your heads and wash your feet to the ankles. And if you are in a state of janābah, then purify yourselves. But if you are ill or on a journey or one of you comes from the place of relieving himself or you have contacted women and do not find water, then seek clean earth and wipe over your faces and hands with it. Allāh does not intend to make difficulty for you, but He intends to purify you and complete His favor upon you that you may be grateful.

1. يَـٰٓأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO you
2. ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnawho
3. ءَامَنُوٓا۟āmanūbelieve
4. إِذَاidhāWhen
5. قُمْتُمْqum'tumyou stand up
6. إِلَىilāfor
7. ٱلصَّلَوٰةِl-ṣalatithe prayer
8. فَٱغْسِلُوا۟fa-igh'silūthen wash
9. وُجُوهَكُمْwujūhakumyour faces
10. وَأَيْدِيَكُمْwa-aydiyakumand your hands
11. إِلَىilātill
12. ٱلْمَرَافِقِl-marāfiqithe elbows
13. وَٱمْسَحُوا۟wa-im'saḥūand wipe
14. بِرُءُوسِكُمْbiruūsikumyour heads
15. وَأَرْجُلَكُمْwa-arjulakumand your feet
16. إِلَىilātill
17. ٱلْكَعْبَيْنِ ۚl-kaʿbaynithe ankles
18. وَإِنwa-inBut if
19. كُنتُمْkuntumyou are
20. جُنُبًۭاjunuban(in) a state of ceremonial impurity
21. فَٱطَّهَّرُوا۟ ۚfa-iṭṭahharūthen purify yourselves
22. وَإِنwa-inBut if
23. كُنتُمkuntumyou are
24. مَّرْضَىٰٓmarḍāill
25. أَوْawor
26. عَلَىٰʿalāon
27. سَفَرٍsafarina journey
28. أَوْawor
29. جَآءَjāahas come
30. أَحَدٌۭaḥadunanyone
31. مِّنكُمminkumof you
32. مِّنَminafrom
33. ٱلْغَآئِطِl-ghāiṭithe toilet
34. أَوْawor
35. لَـٰمَسْتُمُlāmastumuhas (had) contact
36. ٱلنِّسَآءَl-nisāa(with) the women
37. فَلَمْfalamand not
38. تَجِدُوا۟tajidūyou find
39. مَآءًۭmāanwater
40. فَتَيَمَّمُوا۟fatayammamūthen do tayyammum
41. صَعِيدًۭاṣaʿīdan(with) earth
42. طَيِّبًۭاṭayyibanclean
43. فَٱمْسَحُوا۟fa-im'saḥūthen wipe
44. بِوُجُوهِكُمْbiwujūhikumyour faces
45. وَأَيْدِيكُمwa-aydīkumand your hands
46. مِّنْهُ ۚmin'huwith it
47. مَاmāDoes not
48. يُرِيدُyurīduintend
49. ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah
50. لِيَجْعَلَliyajʿalato make
51. عَلَيْكُمʿalaykumfor you
52. مِّنْminany
53. حَرَجٍۢḥarajindifficulty
54. وَلَـٰكِنwalākinbut
55. يُرِيدُyurīduHe intends
56. لِيُطَهِّرَكُمْliyuṭahhirakumto purify you
57. وَلِيُتِمَّwaliyutimmaand to complete
58. نِعْمَتَهُۥniʿ'matahuHis Favor
59. عَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumupon you
60. لَعَلَّكُمْlaʿallakumso that you may
61. تَشْكُرُونَtashkurūna(be) grateful

وَٱذْكُرُوا۟ نِعْمَةَ ٱللَّهِ عَلَيْكُمْ وَمِيثَـٰقَهُ ٱلَّذِى وَاثَقَكُم بِهِۦٓ إِذْ قُلْتُمْ سَمِعْنَا وَأَطَعْنَا ۖ وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَلِيمٌۢ بِذَاتِ ٱلصُّدُورِ

Transliteration wa-udh'kurū niʿ'mata l-lahi ʿalaykum wamīthāqahu alladhī wāthaqakum bihi idh qul'tum samiʿ'nā wa-aṭaʿnā wa-ittaqū l-laha inna l-laha ʿalīmun bidhāti l-ṣudūri

English And remember the favor of Allāh upon you and His covenant with which He bound you when you said, "We hear and we obey"; and fear Allāh. Indeed, Allāh is Knowing of that within the breasts.

1. وَٱذْكُرُوا۟wa-udh'kurūAnd remember
2. نِعْمَةَniʿ'mata(the) Favor
3. ٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allah
4. عَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumupon you
5. وَمِيثَـٰقَهُwamīthāqahuand His covenant
6. ٱلَّذِىalladhīwhich
7. وَاثَقَكُمwāthaqakumHe bound you
8. بِهِۦٓbihiwith [it]
9. إِذْidhwhen
10. قُلْتُمْqul'tumyou said
11. سَمِعْنَاsamiʿ'nāWe heard
12. وَأَطَعْنَا ۖwa-aṭaʿnāand we obeyed
13. وَٱتَّقُوا۟wa-ittaqūand fear
14. ٱللَّهَ ۚl-lahaAllah
15. إِنَّinnaIndeed
16. ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
17. عَلِيمٌۢʿalīmun(is) All-Knower
18. بِذَاتِbidhātiof what
19. ٱلصُّدُورِl-ṣudūri(is in) the breasts

يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ كُونُوا۟ قَوَّٰمِينَ لِلَّهِ شُهَدَآءَ بِٱلْقِسْطِ ۖ وَلَا يَجْرِمَنَّكُمْ شَنَـَٔانُ قَوْمٍ عَلَىٰٓ أَلَّا تَعْدِلُوا۟ ۚ ٱعْدِلُوا۟ هُوَ أَقْرَبُ لِلتَّقْوَىٰ ۖ وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ خَبِيرٌۢ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ

Transliteration yāayyuhā alladhīna āmanū kūnū qawwāmīna lillahi shuhadāa bil-qis'ṭi walā yajrimannakum shanaānu qawmin ʿalā allā taʿdilū iʿ'dilū huwa aqrabu lilttaqwā wa-ittaqū l-laha inna l-laha khabīrun bimā taʿmalūna

English O you who have believed, be persistently standing firm for Allāh, witnesses in justice, and do not let the hatred of a people prevent you from being just. Be just; that is nearer to righteousness. And fear Allāh; indeed, Allāh is [fully] Aware of what you do.

1. يَـٰٓأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO you
2. ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnawho
3. ءَامَنُوا۟āmanūbelieve
4. كُونُوا۟kūnūBe
5. قَوَّٰمِينَqawwāmīnasteadfast
6. لِلَّهِlillahifor Allah
7. شُهَدَآءَshuhadāa(as) witnesses
8. بِٱلْقِسْطِ ۖbil-qis'ṭiin justice
9. وَلَاwalāand let not
10. يَجْرِمَنَّكُمْyajrimannakumprevent you
11. شَنَـَٔانُshanaānuhatred
12. قَوْمٍqawmin(of) a people
13. عَلَىٰٓʿalā[upon]
14. أَلَّاallāthat not
15. تَعْدِلُوا۟ ۚtaʿdilūyou do justice
16. ٱعْدِلُوا۟iʿ'dilūBe just
17. هُوَhuwait
18. أَقْرَبُaqrabu(is) nearer
19. لِلتَّقْوَىٰ ۖlilttaqwāto [the] piety
20. وَٱتَّقُوا۟wa-ittaqūAnd fear
21. ٱللَّهَ ۚl-lahaAllah
22. إِنَّinnaindeed
23. ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
24. خَبِيرٌۢkhabīrun(is) All-Aware
25. بِمَاbimāof what
26. تَعْمَلُونَtaʿmalūnayou do

وَعَدَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ ۙ لَهُم مَّغْفِرَةٌ وَأَجْرٌ عَظِيمٌ

Transliteration waʿada l-lahu alladhīna āmanū waʿamilū l-ṣāliḥāti lahum maghfiratun wa-ajrun ʿaẓīmun

English Allāh has promised those who believe and do righteous deeds [that] for them there is forgiveness and great reward.

1. وَعَدَwaʿadaHas promised
2. ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah
3. ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
4. ءَامَنُوا۟āmanūbelieve
5. وَعَمِلُوا۟waʿamilūand do
6. ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ ۙl-ṣāliḥātithe righteous deeds
7. لَهُمlahumfor them
8. مَّغْفِرَةٌۭmaghfiratun(is) forgiveness
9. وَأَجْرٌwa-ajrunand a reward
10. عَظِيمٌۭʿaẓīmungreat

وَٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ وَكَذَّبُوا۟ بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَآ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْجَحِيمِ

Transliteration wa-alladhīna kafarū wakadhabū biāyātinā ulāika aṣḥābu l-jaḥīmi

English But those who disbelieve and deny Our signs - those are the companions of Hellfire.

1. وَٱلَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaAnd those who
2. كَفَرُوا۟kafarūdisbelieve
3. وَكَذَّبُوا۟wakadhabūand deny
4. بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَآbiāyātināOur Signs
5. أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَulāikathose
6. أَصْحَـٰبُaṣḥābu(are the) companions
7. ٱلْجَحِيمِl-jaḥīmi(of) the Hellfire

يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ ٱذْكُرُوا۟ نِعْمَتَ ٱللَّهِ عَلَيْكُمْ إِذْ هَمَّ قَوْمٌ أَن يَبْسُطُوٓا۟ إِلَيْكُمْ أَيْدِيَهُمْ فَكَفَّ أَيْدِيَهُمْ عَنكُمْ ۖ وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ ۚ وَعَلَى ٱللَّهِ فَلْيَتَوَكَّلِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ

Transliteration yāayyuhā alladhīna āmanū udh'kurū niʿ'mata l-lahi ʿalaykum idh hamma qawmun an yabsuṭū ilaykum aydiyahum fakaffa aydiyahum ʿankum wa-ittaqū l-laha waʿalā l-lahi falyatawakkali l-mu'minūna

English O you who have believed, remember the favor of Allāh upon you when a people determined to extend their hands [in aggression] against you, but He withheld their hands from you; and fear Allāh. And upon Allāh let the believers rely.

1. يَـٰٓأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO you
2. ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnawho
3. ءَامَنُوا۟āmanūbelieve
4. ٱذْكُرُوا۟udh'kurūRemember
5. نِعْمَتَniʿ'mata(the) Favor
6. ٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allah
7. عَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumupon you
8. إِذْidhwhen
9. هَمَّhammadetermined
10. قَوْمٌqawmuna people
11. أَنanthat
12. يَبْسُطُوٓا۟yabsuṭūthey stretch
13. إِلَيْكُمْilaykumtowards you
14. أَيْدِيَهُمْaydiyahumtheir hands
15. فَكَفَّfakaffabut He restrained
16. أَيْدِيَهُمْaydiyahumtheir hands
17. عَنكُمْ ۖʿankumfrom you
18. وَٱتَّقُوا۟wa-ittaqūAnd fear
19. ٱللَّهَ ۚl-lahaAllah
20. وَعَلَىwaʿalāAnd upon
21. ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
22. فَلْيَتَوَكَّلِfalyatawakkaliso let put the trust
23. ٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَl-mu'minūnathe believers

۞ وَلَقَدْ أَخَذَ ٱللَّهُ مِيثَـٰقَ بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ وَبَعَثْنَا مِنْهُمُ ٱثْنَىْ عَشَرَ نَقِيبًا ۖ وَقَالَ ٱللَّهُ إِنِّى مَعَكُمْ ۖ لَئِنْ أَقَمْتُمُ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَءَاتَيْتُمُ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ وَءَامَنتُم بِرُسُلِى وَعَزَّرْتُمُوهُمْ وَأَقْرَضْتُمُ ٱللَّهَ قَرْضًا حَسَنًا لَّأُكَفِّرَنَّ عَنكُمْ سَيِّـَٔاتِكُمْ وَلَأُدْخِلَنَّكُمْ جَنَّـٰتٍ تَجْرِى مِن تَحْتِهَا ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُ ۚ فَمَن كَفَرَ بَعْدَ ذَٰلِكَ مِنكُمْ فَقَدْ ضَلَّ سَوَآءَ ٱلسَّبِيلِ

Transliteration walaqad akhadha l-lahu mīthāqa banī is'rāīla wabaʿathnā min'humu ith'nay ʿashara naqīban waqāla l-lahu innī maʿakum la-in aqamtumu l-ṣalata waātaytumu l-zakata waāmantum birusulī waʿazzartumūhum wa-aqraḍtumu l-laha qarḍan ḥasanan la-ukaffiranna ʿankum sayyiātikum wala-ud'khilannakum jannātin tajrī min taḥtihā l-anhāru faman kafara baʿda dhālika minkum faqad ḍalla sawāa l-sabīli

English And Allāh had already taken a covenant from the Children of Israel, and We delegated from among them twelve leaders. And Allāh said, "I am with you. If you establish prayer and give zakāh and believe in My messengers and support them and loan Allāh a goodly loan, I will surely remove from you your misdeeds and admit you to gardens beneath which rivers flow. But whoever of you disbelieves after that has certainly strayed from the soundness of the way."

1. ۞ وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd certainly
2. أَخَذَakhadhatook
3. ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah
4. مِيثَـٰقَmīthāqaa Covenant
5. بَنِىٓbanī(from the) Children
6. إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَis'rāīla(of) Israel
7. وَبَعَثْنَاwabaʿathnāand We appointed
8. مِنْهُمُmin'humuamong them
9. ٱثْنَىْith'naytwo
10. عَشَرَʿashara(and) ten
11. نَقِيبًۭا ۖnaqībanleaders
12. وَقَالَwaqālaAnd said
13. ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah
14. إِنِّىinnīIndeed, I (am)
15. مَعَكُمْ ۖmaʿakumwith you
16. لَئِنْla-inif
17. أَقَمْتُمُaqamtumuyou establish
18. ٱلصَّلَوٰةَl-ṣalatathe prayer
19. وَءَاتَيْتُمُwaātaytumuand give
20. ٱلزَّكَوٰةَl-zakatathe zakah
21. وَءَامَنتُمwaāmantumand you believe
22. بِرُسُلِىbirusulīin My Messengers
23. وَعَزَّرْتُمُوهُمْwaʿazzartumūhumand you assist them
24. وَأَقْرَضْتُمُwa-aqraḍtumuand you loan
25. ٱللَّهَl-laha(to) Allah
26. قَرْضًاqarḍana loan
27. حَسَنًۭاḥasanangoodly
28. لَّأُكَفِّرَنَّla-ukaffirannasurely I will remove
29. عَنكُمْʿankumfrom you
30. سَيِّـَٔاتِكُمْsayyiātikumyour evil deeds
31. وَلَأُدْخِلَنَّكُمْwala-ud'khilannakumand I will surely admit you
32. جَنَّـٰتٍۢjannātin(to) gardens
33. تَجْرِىtajrīflow
34. مِنminfrom
35. تَحْتِهَاtaḥtihāunderneath them
36. ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُ ۚl-anhāruthe rivers
37. فَمَنfamanBut whoever
38. كَفَرَkafaradisbelieved
39. بَعْدَbaʿdaafter
40. ذَٰلِكَdhālikathat
41. مِنكُمْminkumamong you
42. فَقَدْfaqadthen certainly
43. ضَلَّḍallahe strayed
44. سَوَآءَsawāa(from) the way
45. ٱلسَّبِيلِl-sabīlithe right

فَبِمَا نَقْضِهِم مِّيثَـٰقَهُمْ لَعَنَّـٰهُمْ وَجَعَلْنَا قُلُوبَهُمْ قَـٰسِيَةً ۖ يُحَرِّفُونَ ٱلْكَلِمَ عَن مَّوَاضِعِهِۦ ۙ وَنَسُوا۟ حَظًّا مِّمَّا ذُكِّرُوا۟ بِهِۦ ۚ وَلَا تَزَالُ تَطَّلِعُ عَلَىٰ خَآئِنَةٍ مِّنْهُمْ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا مِّنْهُمْ ۖ فَٱعْفُ عَنْهُمْ وَٱصْفَحْ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يُحِبُّ ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ

Transliteration fabimā naqḍihim mīthāqahum laʿannāhum wajaʿalnā qulūbahum qāsiyatan yuḥarrifūna l-kalima ʿan mawāḍiʿihi wanasū ḥaẓẓan mimmā dhukkirū bihi walā tazālu taṭṭaliʿu ʿalā khāinatin min'hum illā qalīlan min'hum fa-uʿ'fu ʿanhum wa-iṣ'faḥ inna l-laha yuḥibbu l-muḥ'sinīna

English So for their breaking of the covenant We cursed them and made their hearts hardened. They distort words from their [proper] places [i.e., usages] and have forgotten a portion of that of which they were reminded. And you will still observe deceit among them, except a few of them. But pardon them and overlook [their misdeeds]. Indeed, Allāh loves the doers of good.

1. فَبِمَاfabimāSo for
2. نَقْضِهِمnaqḍihimtheir breaking
3. مِّيثَـٰقَهُمْmīthāqahum(of) their covenant
4. لَعَنَّـٰهُمْlaʿannāhumWe cursed them
5. وَجَعَلْنَاwajaʿalnāand We made
6. قُلُوبَهُمْqulūbahumtheir hearts
7. قَـٰسِيَةًۭ ۖqāsiyatanhard
8. يُحَرِّفُونَyuḥarrifūnaThey distort
9. ٱلْكَلِمَl-kalimathe words
10. عَنʿanfrom
11. مَّوَاضِعِهِۦ ۙmawāḍiʿihitheir places
12. وَنَسُوا۟wanasūand forgot
13. حَظًّۭاḥaẓẓana part
14. مِّمَّاmimmāof what
15. ذُكِّرُوا۟dhukkirūthey were reminded
16. بِهِۦ ۚbihiof [it]
17. وَلَاwalāAnd not
18. تَزَالُtazāluwill you cease
19. تَطَّلِعُtaṭṭaliʿuto discover
20. عَلَىٰʿalāof
21. خَآئِنَةٍۢkhāinatintreachery
22. مِّنْهُمْmin'humfrom them
23. إِلَّاillāexcept
24. قَلِيلًۭاqalīlana few
25. مِّنْهُمْ ۖmin'humof them
26. فَٱعْفُfa-uʿ'fuBut forgive
27. عَنْهُمْʿanhumthem
28. وَٱصْفَحْ ۚwa-iṣ'faḥand overlook
29. إِنَّinnaIndeed
30. ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
31. يُحِبُّyuḥibbuloves
32. ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَl-muḥ'sinīnathe good-doers

وَمِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّا نَصَـٰرَىٰٓ أَخَذْنَا مِيثَـٰقَهُمْ فَنَسُوا۟ حَظًّا مِّمَّا ذُكِّرُوا۟ بِهِۦ فَأَغْرَيْنَا بَيْنَهُمُ ٱلْعَدَاوَةَ وَٱلْبَغْضَآءَ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ ۚ وَسَوْفَ يُنَبِّئُهُمُ ٱللَّهُ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَصْنَعُونَ

Transliteration wamina alladhīna qālū innā naṣārā akhadhnā mīthāqahum fanasū ḥaẓẓan mimmā dhukkirū bihi fa-aghraynā baynahumu l-ʿadāwata wal-baghḍāa ilā yawmi l-qiyāmati wasawfa yunabbi-uhumu l-lahu bimā kānū yaṣnaʿūna

English And from those who say, "We are Christians" We took their covenant; but they forgot a portion of that of which they were reminded. So We caused among them animosity and hatred until the Day of Resurrection. And Allāh is going to inform them about what they used to do.

1. وَمِنَwaminaAnd from
2. ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
3. قَالُوٓا۟qālūsaid
4. إِنَّاinnāIndeed we
5. نَصَـٰرَىٰٓnaṣārā(are) Christians
6. أَخَذْنَاakhadhnāWe took
7. مِيثَـٰقَهُمْmīthāqahumtheir covenant
8. فَنَسُوا۟fanasūbut they forgot
9. حَظًّۭاḥaẓẓana part
10. مِّمَّاmimmāof what
11. ذُكِّرُوا۟dhukkirūthey were reminded
12. بِهِۦbihiof [it]
13. فَأَغْرَيْنَاfa-aghraynāSo We aroused
14. بَيْنَهُمُbaynahumubetween them
15. ٱلْعَدَاوَةَl-ʿadāwata[the] enmity
16. وَٱلْبَغْضَآءَwal-baghḍāaand [the] hatred
17. إِلَىٰilātill
18. يَوْمِyawmi(the) Day
19. ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ ۚl-qiyāmati(of) the Resurrection
20. وَسَوْفَwasawfaAnd soon
21. يُنَبِّئُهُمُyunabbi-uhumuwill inform them
22. ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah
23. بِمَاbimāof what
24. كَانُوا۟kānūthey used to
25. يَصْنَعُونَyaṣnaʿūnado

يَـٰٓأَهْلَ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ قَدْ جَآءَكُمْ رَسُولُنَا يُبَيِّنُ لَكُمْ كَثِيرًا مِّمَّا كُنتُمْ تُخْفُونَ مِنَ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ وَيَعْفُوا۟ عَن كَثِيرٍ ۚ قَدْ جَآءَكُم مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ نُورٌ وَكِتَـٰبٌ مُّبِينٌ

Transliteration yāahla l-kitābi qad jāakum rasūlunā yubayyinu lakum kathīran mimmā kuntum tukh'fūna mina l-kitābi wayaʿfū ʿan kathīrin qad jāakum mina l-lahi nūrun wakitābun mubīnun

English O People of the Scripture, there has come to you Our Messenger making clear to you much of what you used to conceal of the Scripture and overlooking much. There has come to you from Allāh a light and a clear Book [i.e., the Qur’ān]

1. يَـٰٓأَهْلَyāahlaO People
2. ٱلْكِتَـٰبِl-kitābi(of) the Book
3. قَدْqadSurely
4. جَآءَكُمْjāakumhas come to you
5. رَسُولُنَاrasūlunāOur Messenger
6. يُبَيِّنُyubayyinumaking clear
7. لَكُمْlakumto you
8. كَثِيرًۭاkathīranmuch
9. مِّمَّاmimmāof what
10. كُنتُمْkuntumyou used to
11. تُخْفُونَtukh'fūnaconceal
12. مِنَminaof
13. ٱلْكِتَـٰبِl-kitābithe Scripture
14. وَيَعْفُوا۟wayaʿfūand overlooking
15. عَنʿanof
16. كَثِيرٍۢ ۚkathīrinmuch
17. قَدْqadSurely
18. جَآءَكُمjāakumhas come to you
19. مِّنَminafrom
20. ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
21. نُورٌۭnūruna light
22. وَكِتَـٰبٌۭwakitābunand a Book
23. مُّبِينٌۭmubīnunclear

يَهْدِى بِهِ ٱللَّهُ مَنِ ٱتَّبَعَ رِضْوَٰنَهُۥ سُبُلَ ٱلسَّلَـٰمِ وَيُخْرِجُهُم مِّنَ ٱلظُّلُمَـٰتِ إِلَى ٱلنُّورِ بِإِذْنِهِۦ وَيَهْدِيهِمْ إِلَىٰ صِرَٰطٍ مُّسْتَقِيمٍ

Transliteration yahdī bihi l-lahu mani ittabaʿa riḍ'wānahu subula l-salāmi wayukh'rijuhum mina l-ẓulumāti ilā l-nūri bi-idh'nihi wayahdīhim ilā ṣirāṭin mus'taqīmin

English By which Allāh guides those who pursue His pleasure to the ways of peace and brings them out from darknesses into the light, by His permission, and guides them to a straight path.

1. يَهْدِىyahdīGuides
2. بِهِbihiwith it
3. ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah
4. مَنِmani(those) who
5. ٱتَّبَعَittabaʿaseek
6. رِضْوَٰنَهُۥriḍ'wānahuHis pleasure
7. سُبُلَsubula(to the) ways
8. ٱلسَّلَـٰمِl-salāmi(of) the peace
9. وَيُخْرِجُهُمwayukh'rijuhumand brings them out
10. مِّنَminafrom
11. ٱلظُّلُمَـٰتِl-ẓulumātithe darknessess
12. إِلَىilāto
13. ٱلنُّورِl-nūrithe light
14. بِإِذْنِهِۦbi-idh'nihiby His permission
15. وَيَهْدِيهِمْwayahdīhimand guides them
16. إِلَىٰilāto
17. صِرَٰطٍۢṣirāṭin(the) way
18. مُّسْتَقِيمٍۢmus'taqīmin(the) straight

لَّقَدْ كَفَرَ ٱلَّذِينَ قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ هُوَ ٱلْمَسِيحُ ٱبْنُ مَرْيَمَ ۚ قُلْ فَمَن يَمْلِكُ مِنَ ٱللَّهِ شَيْـًٔا إِنْ أَرَادَ أَن يُهْلِكَ ٱلْمَسِيحَ ٱبْنَ مَرْيَمَ وَأُمَّهُۥ وَمَن فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ جَمِيعًا ۗ وَلِلَّهِ مُلْكُ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا ۚ يَخْلُقُ مَا يَشَآءُ ۚ وَٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ قَدِيرٌ

Transliteration laqad kafara alladhīna qālū inna l-laha huwa l-masīḥu ub'nu maryama qul faman yamliku mina l-lahi shayan in arāda an yuh'lika l-masīḥa ib'na maryama wa-ummahu waman fī l-arḍi jamīʿan walillahi mul'ku l-samāwāti wal-arḍi wamā baynahumā yakhluqu mā yashāu wal-lahu ʿalā kulli shayin qadīrun

English They have certainly disbelieved who say that Allāh is Christ, the son of Mary. Say, "Then who could prevent Allāh at all if He had intended to destroy Christ, the son of Mary, or his mother or everyone on the earth?" And to Allāh belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them. He creates what He wills, and Allāh is over all things competent.

1. لَّقَدْlaqadCertainly
2. كَفَرَkafaradisbelieved
3. ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
4. قَالُوٓا۟qālūsaid
5. إِنَّinnaIndeed
6. ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
7. هُوَhuwaHe
8. ٱلْمَسِيحُl-masīḥu(is) the Messiah
9. ٱبْنُub'nuson
10. مَرْيَمَ ۚmaryama(of) Maryam
11. قُلْqulSay
12. فَمَنfamanThen who
13. يَمْلِكُyamlikuhas power
14. مِنَminaagainst
15. ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
16. شَيْـًٔاshayan(in) anything
17. إِنْinif
18. أَرَادَarādaHe intends
19. أَنanto
20. يُهْلِكَyuh'likadestroy
21. ٱلْمَسِيحَl-masīḥathe Messiah
22. ٱبْنَib'nason
23. مَرْيَمَmaryama(of) Maryam
24. وَأُمَّهُۥwa-ummahuand his mother
25. وَمَنwamanand whoever
26. فِىfī(is) in
27. ٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earth
28. جَمِيعًۭا ۗjamīʿanall
29. وَلِلَّهِwalillahiAnd for Allah
30. مُلْكُmul'ku(is the) dominion
31. ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِl-samāwāti(of) the heavens
32. وَٱلْأَرْضِwal-arḍiand the earth
33. وَمَاwamāand what
34. بَيْنَهُمَا ۚbaynahumā(is) between both of them
35. يَخْلُقُyakhluquHe creates
36. مَاmāwhat
37. يَشَآءُ ۚyashāuHe wills
38. وَٱللَّهُwal-lahuand Allah
39. عَلَىٰʿalā(is) on
40. كُلِّkullievery
41. شَىْءٍۢshayinthing
42. قَدِيرٌۭqadīrunAll-Powerful

وَقَالَتِ ٱلْيَهُودُ وَٱلنَّصَـٰرَىٰ نَحْنُ أَبْنَـٰٓؤُا۟ ٱللَّهِ وَأَحِبَّـٰٓؤُهُۥ ۚ قُلْ فَلِمَ يُعَذِّبُكُم بِذُنُوبِكُم ۖ بَلْ أَنتُم بَشَرٌ مِّمَّنْ خَلَقَ ۚ يَغْفِرُ لِمَن يَشَآءُ وَيُعَذِّبُ مَن يَشَآءُ ۚ وَلِلَّهِ مُلْكُ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا ۖ وَإِلَيْهِ ٱلْمَصِيرُ

Transliteration waqālati l-yahūdu wal-naṣārā naḥnu abnāu l-lahi wa-aḥibbāuhu qul falima yuʿadhibukum bidhunūbikum bal antum basharun mimman khalaqa yaghfiru liman yashāu wayuʿadhibu man yashāu walillahi mul'ku l-samāwāti wal-arḍi wamā baynahumā wa-ilayhi l-maṣīru

English But the Jews and the Christians say, "We are the children of Allāh and His beloved." Say, "Then why does He punish you for your sins?" Rather, you are human beings from among those He has created. He forgives whom He wills, and He punishes whom He wills. And to Allāh belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them, and to Him is the [final] destination.

1. وَقَالَتِwaqālatiAnd said
2. ٱلْيَهُودُl-yahūduthe Jews
3. وَٱلنَّصَـٰرَىٰwal-naṣārāand the Christians
4. نَحْنُnaḥnuWe (are)
5. أَبْنَـٰٓؤُا۟abnāu(the) children
6. ٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allah
7. وَأَحِبَّـٰٓؤُهُۥ ۚwa-aḥibbāuhuand His beloved
8. قُلْqulSay
9. فَلِمَfalimaThen why
10. يُعَذِّبُكُمyuʿadhibukum(does He) punish you
11. بِذُنُوبِكُم ۖbidhunūbikumfor your sins
12. بَلْbalNay
13. أَنتُمantumyou (are)
14. بَشَرٌۭbasharunhuman beings
15. مِّمَّنْmimmanfrom among (those)
16. خَلَقَ ۚkhalaqaHe created
17. يَغْفِرُyaghfiruHe forgives
18. لِمَنliman[for] whom
19. يَشَآءُyashāuHe wills
20. وَيُعَذِّبُwayuʿadhibuand punishes
21. مَنmanwhom
22. يَشَآءُ ۚyashāuHe wills
23. وَلِلَّهِwalillahiAnd for Allah
24. مُلْكُmul'ku(is the) dominion
25. ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِl-samāwāti(of) the heavens
26. وَٱلْأَرْضِwal-arḍiand the earth
27. وَمَاwamāand whatever
28. بَيْنَهُمَا ۖbaynahumā(is) between them
29. وَإِلَيْهِwa-ilayhiand to Him
30. ٱلْمَصِيرُl-maṣīru(is) the final return

يَـٰٓأَهْلَ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ قَدْ جَآءَكُمْ رَسُولُنَا يُبَيِّنُ لَكُمْ عَلَىٰ فَتْرَةٍ مِّنَ ٱلرُّسُلِ أَن تَقُولُوا۟ مَا جَآءَنَا مِنۢ بَشِيرٍ وَلَا نَذِيرٍ ۖ فَقَدْ جَآءَكُم بَشِيرٌ وَنَذِيرٌ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ قَدِيرٌ

Transliteration yāahla l-kitābi qad jāakum rasūlunā yubayyinu lakum ʿalā fatratin mina l-rusuli an taqūlū mā jāanā min bashīrin walā nadhīrin faqad jāakum bashīrun wanadhīrun wal-lahu ʿalā kulli shayin qadīrun

English O People of the Scripture, there has come to you Our Messenger to make clear to you [the religion] after a period [of suspension] of messengers, lest you say, "There came not to us any bringer of good tidings or a warner." But there has come to you a bringer of good tidings and a warner. And Allāh is over all things competent.

1. يَـٰٓأَهْلَyāahlaO People
2. ٱلْكِتَـٰبِl-kitābi(of) the Book
3. قَدْqadSurely
4. جَآءَكُمْjāakumhas come to you
5. رَسُولُنَاrasūlunāOur Messenger
6. يُبَيِّنُyubayyinuhe makes clear
7. لَكُمْlakumto you
8. عَلَىٰʿalā[on]
9. فَتْرَةٍۢfatratin(after) an interval (of cessation)
10. مِّنَminaof
11. ٱلرُّسُلِl-rusulithe Messengers
12. أَنanlest
13. تَقُولُوا۟taqūlūyou say
14. مَاmāNot
15. جَآءَنَاjāanā(has) come to us
16. مِنۢminany
17. بَشِيرٍۢbashīrinbearer of glad tidings
18. وَلَاwalāand not
19. نَذِيرٍۢ ۖnadhīrina warner
20. فَقَدْfaqadBut surely
21. جَآءَكُمjāakumhas come to you
22. بَشِيرٌۭbashīruna bearer of glad tidings
23. وَنَذِيرٌۭ ۗwanadhīrunand a warner
24. وَٱللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allah
25. عَلَىٰʿalā(is) on
26. كُلِّkullievery
27. شَىْءٍۢshayinthing
28. قَدِيرٌۭqadīrunAll-Powerful

وَإِذْ قَالَ مُوسَىٰ لِقَوْمِهِۦ يَـٰقَوْمِ ٱذْكُرُوا۟ نِعْمَةَ ٱللَّهِ عَلَيْكُمْ إِذْ جَعَلَ فِيكُمْ أَنۢبِيَآءَ وَجَعَلَكُم مُّلُوكًا وَءَاتَىٰكُم مَّا لَمْ يُؤْتِ أَحَدًا مِّنَ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ

Transliteration wa-idh qāla mūsā liqawmihi yāqawmi udh'kurū niʿ'mata l-lahi ʿalaykum idh jaʿala fīkum anbiyāa wajaʿalakum mulūkan waātākum mā lam yu'ti aḥadan mina l-ʿālamīna

English And [mention, O Muḥammad], when Moses said to his people, "O my people, remember the favor of Allāh upon you when He appointed among you prophets and made you possessors and gave you that which He had not given anyone among the worlds.

1. وَإِذْwa-idhAnd when
2. قَالَqālasaid
3. مُوسَىٰmūsāMusa
4. لِقَوْمِهِۦliqawmihito his people
5. يَـٰقَوْمِyāqawmiO my people
6. ٱذْكُرُوا۟udh'kurūremember
7. نِعْمَةَniʿ'mata(the) Favor
8. ٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allah
9. عَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumupon you
10. إِذْidhwhen
11. جَعَلَjaʿalaHe placed
12. فِيكُمْfīkumamong you
13. أَنۢبِيَآءَanbiyāaProphets
14. وَجَعَلَكُمwajaʿalakumand made you
15. مُّلُوكًۭاmulūkankings
16. وَءَاتَىٰكُمwaātākumand He gave you
17. مَّاmāwhat
18. لَمْlamnot
19. يُؤْتِyu'tiHe (had) given
20. أَحَدًۭاaḥadan(to) anyone
21. مِّنَminafrom
22. ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَl-ʿālamīnathe worlds

يَـٰقَوْمِ ٱدْخُلُوا۟ ٱلْأَرْضَ ٱلْمُقَدَّسَةَ ٱلَّتِى كَتَبَ ٱللَّهُ لَكُمْ وَلَا تَرْتَدُّوا۟ عَلَىٰٓ أَدْبَارِكُمْ فَتَنقَلِبُوا۟ خَـٰسِرِينَ

Transliteration yāqawmi ud'khulū l-arḍa l-muqadasata allatī kataba l-lahu lakum walā tartaddū ʿalā adbārikum fatanqalibū khāsirīna

English O my people, enter the blessed land [i.e., Palestine] which Allāh has assigned to you and do not turn back [from fighting in Allāh's cause] and [thus] become losers."

1. يَـٰقَوْمِyāqawmiO my people
2. ٱدْخُلُوا۟ud'khulūEnter
3. ٱلْأَرْضَl-arḍathe land
4. ٱلْمُقَدَّسَةَl-muqadasatathe Holy
5. ٱلَّتِىallatīwhich
6. كَتَبَkataba(has been) ordained
7. ٱللَّهُl-lahu(by) Allah
8. لَكُمْlakumfor you
9. وَلَاwalāand (do) not
10. تَرْتَدُّوا۟tartaddūturn
11. عَلَىٰٓʿalāon
12. أَدْبَارِكُمْadbārikumyour backs
13. فَتَنقَلِبُوا۟fatanqalibūthen you will turn back
14. خَـٰسِرِينَkhāsirīna(as) losers

قَالُوا۟ يَـٰمُوسَىٰٓ إِنَّ فِيهَا قَوْمًا جَبَّارِينَ وَإِنَّا لَن نَّدْخُلَهَا حَتَّىٰ يَخْرُجُوا۟ مِنْهَا فَإِن يَخْرُجُوا۟ مِنْهَا فَإِنَّا دَٰخِلُونَ

Transliteration qālū yāmūsā inna fīhā qawman jabbārīna wa-innā lan nadkhulahā ḥattā yakhrujū min'hā fa-in yakhrujū min'hā fa-innā dākhilūna

English They said, "O Moses, indeed within it is a people of tyrannical strength, and indeed, we will never enter it until they leave it; but if they leave it, then we will enter."

1. قَالُوا۟qālūThey said
2. يَـٰمُوسَىٰٓyāmūsāO Musa
3. إِنَّinnaIndeed
4. فِيهَاfīhāin it
5. قَوْمًۭاqawman(are) people
6. جَبَّارِينَjabbārīna(of) tyrannical strength
7. وَإِنَّاwa-innāand indeed, we
8. لَنlannever
9. نَّدْخُلَهَاnadkhulahāwill enter it
10. حَتَّىٰḥattāuntil
11. يَخْرُجُوا۟yakhrujūthey leave
12. مِنْهَاmin'hāfrom it
13. فَإِنfa-inand if
14. يَخْرُجُوا۟yakhrujūthey leave
15. مِنْهَاmin'hā[from] it
16. فَإِنَّاfa-innāthen certainly we (will)
17. دَٰخِلُونَdākhilūnaenter (it)

قَالَ رَجُلَانِ مِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ يَخَافُونَ أَنْعَمَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْهِمَا ٱدْخُلُوا۟ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلْبَابَ فَإِذَا دَخَلْتُمُوهُ فَإِنَّكُمْ غَـٰلِبُونَ ۚ وَعَلَى ٱللَّهِ فَتَوَكَّلُوٓا۟ إِن كُنتُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ

Transliteration qāla rajulāni mina alladhīna yakhāfūna anʿama l-lahu ʿalayhimā ud'khulū ʿalayhimu l-bāba fa-idhā dakhaltumūhu fa-innakum ghālibūna waʿalā l-lahi fatawakkalū in kuntum mu'minīna

English Said two men from those who feared [to disobey] upon whom Allāh had bestowed favor, "Enter upon them through the gate, for when you have entered it, you will be predominant. And upon Allāh rely, if you should be believers."

1. قَالَqālaSaid
2. رَجُلَانِrajulānitwo men
3. مِنَminafrom
4. ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
5. يَخَافُونَyakhāfūnafeared (Allah)
6. أَنْعَمَanʿama(had) favored
7. ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah
8. عَلَيْهِمَاʿalayhimā[on] both of them
9. ٱدْخُلُوا۟ud'khulūEnter
10. عَلَيْهِمُʿalayhimuupon them
11. ٱلْبَابَl-bāba(through) the gate
12. فَإِذَاfa-idhāthen when
13. دَخَلْتُمُوهُdakhaltumūhuyou have entered it
14. فَإِنَّكُمْfa-innakumthen indeed, you (will be)
15. غَـٰلِبُونَ ۚghālibūnavictorious
16. وَعَلَىwaʿalāAnd upon
17. ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
18. فَتَوَكَّلُوٓا۟fatawakkalūthen put your trust
19. إِنinif
20. كُنتُمkuntumyou are
21. مُّؤْمِنِينَmu'minīnabelievers

قَالُوا۟ يَـٰمُوسَىٰٓ إِنَّا لَن نَّدْخُلَهَآ أَبَدًا مَّا دَامُوا۟ فِيهَا ۖ فَٱذْهَبْ أَنتَ وَرَبُّكَ فَقَـٰتِلَآ إِنَّا هَـٰهُنَا قَـٰعِدُونَ

Transliteration qālū yāmūsā innā lan nadkhulahā abadan mā dāmū fīhā fa-idh'hab anta warabbuka faqātilā innā hāhunā qāʿidūna

English They said, "O Moses, indeed we will not enter it, ever, as long as they are within it; so go, you and your Lord, and fight. Indeed, we are remaining right here."

1. قَالُوا۟qālūThey said
2. يَـٰمُوسَىٰٓyāmūsāO Musa
3. إِنَّاinnāIndeed, we
4. لَنlannever
5. نَّدْخُلَهَآnadkhulahāwill enter it
6. أَبَدًۭاabadanever
7. مَّاmāfor
8. دَامُوا۟dāmūas long as they are
9. فِيهَا ۖfīhāin it
10. فَٱذْهَبْfa-idh'habSo go
11. أَنتَantayou
12. وَرَبُّكَwarabbukaand your Lord
13. فَقَـٰتِلَآfaqātilāand you both fight
14. إِنَّاinnāIndeed, we
15. هَـٰهُنَاhāhunāare [here]
16. قَـٰعِدُونَqāʿidūnasitting

قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّى لَآ أَمْلِكُ إِلَّا نَفْسِى وَأَخِى ۖ فَٱفْرُقْ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَ ٱلْقَوْمِ ٱلْفَـٰسِقِينَ

Transliteration qāla rabbi innī lā amliku illā nafsī wa-akhī fa-uf'ruq baynanā wabayna l-qawmi l-fāsiqīna

English [Moses] said, "My Lord, indeed I do not possess [i.e., control] except myself and my brother, so part us from the defiantly disobedient people."

1. قَالَqālaHe said
2. رَبِّrabbiO my Lord
3. إِنِّىinnīIndeed, I
4. لَآlā(do) not
5. أَمْلِكُamliku(have) power
6. إِلَّاillāexcept
7. نَفْسِىnafsī(over) myself
8. وَأَخِى ۖwa-akhīand my brother
9. فَٱفْرُقْfa-uf'ruqso (make a) separation
10. بَيْنَنَاbaynanābetween us
11. وَبَيْنَwabaynaand between
12. ٱلْقَوْمِl-qawmithe people
13. ٱلْفَـٰسِقِينَl-fāsiqīna(the) defiantly disobedient

قَالَ فَإِنَّهَا مُحَرَّمَةٌ عَلَيْهِمْ ۛ أَرْبَعِينَ سَنَةً ۛ يَتِيهُونَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ فَلَا تَأْسَ عَلَى ٱلْقَوْمِ ٱلْفَـٰسِقِينَ

Transliteration qāla fa-innahā muḥarramatun ʿalayhim arbaʿīna sanatan yatīhūna fī l-arḍi falā tasa ʿalā l-qawmi l-fāsiqīna

English [Allāh] said, "Then indeed, it is forbidden to them for forty years [in which] they will wander throughout the land. So do not grieve over the defiantly disobedient people."

1. قَالَqāla(Allah) said
2. فَإِنَّهَاfa-innahāThen indeed it
3. مُحَرَّمَةٌmuḥarramatun(will be) forbidden
4. عَلَيْهِمْ ۛʿalayhimto them
5. أَرْبَعِينَarbaʿīna(for) forty
6. سَنَةًۭ ۛsanatanyears
7. يَتِيهُونَyatīhūnathey will wander
8. فِىfīin
9. ٱلْأَرْضِ ۚl-arḍithe earth
10. فَلَاfalāSo (do) not
11. تَأْسَtasagrieve
12. عَلَىʿalāover
13. ٱلْقَوْمِl-qawmithe people
14. ٱلْفَـٰسِقِينَl-fāsiqīnathe defiantly disobedient

۞ وَٱتْلُ عَلَيْهِمْ نَبَأَ ٱبْنَىْ ءَادَمَ بِٱلْحَقِّ إِذْ قَرَّبَا قُرْبَانًا فَتُقُبِّلَ مِنْ أَحَدِهِمَا وَلَمْ يُتَقَبَّلْ مِنَ ٱلْـَٔاخَرِ قَالَ لَأَقْتُلَنَّكَ ۖ قَالَ إِنَّمَا يَتَقَبَّلُ ٱللَّهُ مِنَ ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ

Transliteration wa-ut'lu ʿalayhim naba-a ib'nay ādama bil-ḥaqi idh qarrabā qur'bānan fatuqubbila min aḥadihimā walam yutaqabbal mina l-ākhari qāla la-aqtulannaka qāla innamā yataqabbalu l-lahu mina l-mutaqīna

English And recite to them the story of Adam's two sons, in truth, when they both made an offering [to Allāh], and it was accepted from one of them but was not accepted from the other. Said [the latter], "I will surely kill you." Said [the former], "Indeed, Allāh only accepts from the righteous [who fear Him].

1. ۞ وَٱتْلُwa-ut'luAnd recite
2. عَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimto them
3. نَبَأَnaba-athe story
4. ٱبْنَىْib'nay(of) two sons
5. ءَادَمَādama(of) Adam
6. بِٱلْحَقِّbil-ḥaqiin truth
7. إِذْidhwhen
8. قَرَّبَاqarrabāboth offered
9. قُرْبَانًۭاqur'bānana sacrifice
10. فَتُقُبِّلَfatuqubbilaand it was accepted
11. مِنْminfrom
12. أَحَدِهِمَاaḥadihimāone of them
13. وَلَمْwalamand not
14. يُتَقَبَّلْyutaqabbalwas accepted
15. مِنَminafrom
16. ٱلْـَٔاخَرِl-ākharithe other
17. قَالَqālaSaid (the latter)
18. لَأَقْتُلَنَّكَ ۖla-aqtulannakaSurely I will kill you
19. قَالَqālaSaid (the former)
20. إِنَّمَاinnamāOnly
21. يَتَقَبَّلُyataqabbaluaccepts
22. ٱللَّهُl-lahu(does) Allah
23. مِنَminafrom
24. ٱلْمُتَّقِينَl-mutaqīnathe God fearing

لَئِنۢ بَسَطتَ إِلَىَّ يَدَكَ لِتَقْتُلَنِى مَآ أَنَا۠ بِبَاسِطٍ يَدِىَ إِلَيْكَ لِأَقْتُلَكَ ۖ إِنِّىٓ أَخَافُ ٱللَّهَ رَبَّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ

Transliteration la-in basaṭta ilayya yadaka litaqtulanī mā anā bibāsiṭin yadiya ilayka li-aqtulaka innī akhāfu l-laha rabba l-ʿālamīna

English If you should raise your hand toward me to kill me - I shall not raise my hand toward you to kill you. Indeed, I fear Allāh, Lord of the worlds.

1. لَئِنۢla-inIf
2. بَسَطتَbasaṭtayou stretch
3. إِلَىَّilayyatowards me
4. يَدَكَyadakayour hand
5. لِتَقْتُلَنِىlitaqtulanīto kill me
6. مَآmānot
7. أَنَا۠anāwill I
8. بِبَاسِطٍۢbibāsiṭinstretch
9. يَدِىَyadiyamy hand
10. إِلَيْكَilaykatowards you
11. لِأَقْتُلَكَ ۖli-aqtulakato kill you
12. إِنِّىٓinnīindeed I
13. أَخَافُakhāfufear
14. ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
15. رَبَّrabba(the) Lord
16. ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَl-ʿālamīna(of) the worlds

إِنِّىٓ أُرِيدُ أَن تَبُوٓأَ بِإِثْمِى وَإِثْمِكَ فَتَكُونَ مِنْ أَصْحَـٰبِ ٱلنَّارِ ۚ وَذَٰلِكَ جَزَٰٓؤُا۟ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ

Transliteration innī urīdu an tabūa bi-ith'mī wa-ith'mika fatakūna min aṣḥābi l-nāri wadhālika jazāu l-ẓālimīna

English Indeed, I want you to obtain [thereby] my sin and your sin so you will be among the companions of the Fire. And that is the recompense of wrongdoers."

1. إِنِّىٓinnīIndeed, I
2. أُرِيدُurīduwish
3. أَنanthat
4. تَبُوٓأَtabūayou be laden
5. بِإِثْمِىbi-ith'mīwith my sin
6. وَإِثْمِكَwa-ith'mikaand your sin
7. فَتَكُونَfatakūnaso you will be
8. مِنْminamong
9. أَصْحَـٰبِaṣḥābi(the) companions
10. ٱلنَّارِ ۚl-nāri(of) the Fire
11. وَذَٰلِكَwadhālikaand that
12. جَزَٰٓؤُا۟jazāu(is the) recompense
13. ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَl-ẓālimīna(of) the wrong-doers

فَطَوَّعَتْ لَهُۥ نَفْسُهُۥ قَتْلَ أَخِيهِ فَقَتَلَهُۥ فَأَصْبَحَ مِنَ ٱلْخَـٰسِرِينَ

Transliteration faṭawwaʿat lahu nafsuhu qatla akhīhi faqatalahu fa-aṣbaḥa mina l-khāsirīna

English And his soul permitted to him the murder of his brother, so he killed him and became among the losers.

1. فَطَوَّعَتْfaṭawwaʿatThen prompted
2. لَهُۥlahuto him
3. نَفْسُهُۥnafsuhuhis soul
4. قَتْلَqatla(to) kill
5. أَخِيهِakhīhihis brother
6. فَقَتَلَهُۥfaqatalahuso he killed him
7. فَأَصْبَحَfa-aṣbaḥaand became
8. مِنَminaof
9. ٱلْخَـٰسِرِينَl-khāsirīnathe losers

فَبَعَثَ ٱللَّهُ غُرَابًا يَبْحَثُ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ لِيُرِيَهُۥ كَيْفَ يُوَٰرِى سَوْءَةَ أَخِيهِ ۚ قَالَ يَـٰوَيْلَتَىٰٓ أَعَجَزْتُ أَنْ أَكُونَ مِثْلَ هَـٰذَا ٱلْغُرَابِ فَأُوَٰرِىَ سَوْءَةَ أَخِى ۖ فَأَصْبَحَ مِنَ ٱلنَّـٰدِمِينَ

Transliteration fabaʿatha l-lahu ghurāban yabḥathu fī l-arḍi liyuriyahu kayfa yuwārī sawata akhīhi qāla yāwaylatā aʿajaztu an akūna mith'la hādhā l-ghurābi fa-uwāriya sawata akhī fa-aṣbaḥa mina l-nādimīna

English Then Allāh sent a crow searching [i.e., scratching] in the ground to show him how to hide the disgrace of his brother. He said, "O woe to me! Have I failed to be like this crow and hide the disgrace [i.e., body] of my brother?" And he became of the regretful.

1. فَبَعَثَfabaʿathaThen (was) sent
2. ٱللَّهُl-lahu(by) Allah
3. غُرَابًۭاghurābana crow
4. يَبْحَثُyabḥathuit (was) scratching
5. فِىfīin
6. ٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earth
7. لِيُرِيَهُۥliyuriyahuto show him
8. كَيْفَkayfahow
9. يُوَٰرِىyuwārīto hide
10. سَوْءَةَsawata(the) dead body
11. أَخِيهِ ۚakhīhi(of) his brother
12. قَالَqālaHe said
13. يَـٰوَيْلَتَىٰٓyāwaylatāWoe to me
14. أَعَجَزْتُaʿajaztuAm I unable
15. أَنْanthat
16. أَكُونَakūnaI can be
17. مِثْلَmith'lalike
18. هَـٰذَاhādhāthis
19. ٱلْغُرَابِl-ghurābi[the] crow
20. فَأُوَٰرِىَfa-uwāriyaand hide
21. سَوْءَةَsawata(the) dead body
22. أَخِى ۖakhī(of) my brother
23. فَأَصْبَحَfa-aṣbaḥaThen he became
24. مِنَminaof
25. ٱلنَّـٰدِمِينَl-nādimīnathe regretful

مِنْ أَجْلِ ذَٰلِكَ كَتَبْنَا عَلَىٰ بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ أَنَّهُۥ مَن قَتَلَ نَفْسًۢا بِغَيْرِ نَفْسٍ أَوْ فَسَادٍ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ فَكَأَنَّمَا قَتَلَ ٱلنَّاسَ جَمِيعًا وَمَنْ أَحْيَاهَا فَكَأَنَّمَآ أَحْيَا ٱلنَّاسَ جَمِيعًا ۚ وَلَقَدْ جَآءَتْهُمْ رُسُلُنَا بِٱلْبَيِّنَـٰتِ ثُمَّ إِنَّ كَثِيرًا مِّنْهُم بَعْدَ ذَٰلِكَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ لَمُسْرِفُونَ

Transliteration min ajli dhālika katabnā ʿalā banī is'rāīla annahu man qatala nafsan bighayri nafsin aw fasādin fī l-arḍi faka-annamā qatala l-nāsa jamīʿan waman aḥyāhā faka-annamā aḥyā l-nāsa jamīʿan walaqad jāathum rusulunā bil-bayināti thumma inna kathīran min'hum baʿda dhālika fī l-arḍi lamus'rifūna

English Because of that, We decreed upon the Children of Israel that whoever kills a soul unless for a soul or for corruption [done] in the land - it is as if he had slain mankind entirely. And whoever saves one - it is as if he had saved mankind entirely. And Our messengers had certainly come to them with clear proofs. Then indeed many of them, [even] after that, throughout the land, were transgressors.

1. مِنْminFrom
2. أَجْلِajlitime
3. ذَٰلِكَdhālikathat
4. كَتَبْنَاkatabnāWe ordained
5. عَلَىٰʿalāon
6. بَنِىٓbanī(the) Children
7. إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَis'rāīla(of) Israel
8. أَنَّهُۥannahuthat he
9. مَنmanwho
10. قَتَلَqatalakills
11. نَفْسًۢاnafsana soul
12. بِغَيْرِbighayriother than
13. نَفْسٍnafsin(for) a soul
14. أَوْawor
15. فَسَادٍۢfasādin(for) spreading corruption
16. فِىfīin
17. ٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earth
18. فَكَأَنَّمَاfaka-annamāthen (it) is as if
19. قَتَلَqatalahe has killed
20. ٱلنَّاسَl-nāsamankind
21. جَمِيعًۭاjamīʿanall
22. وَمَنْwamanand whoever
23. أَحْيَاهَاaḥyāhāsaves it
24. فَكَأَنَّمَآfaka-annamāthen (it) is as if
25. أَحْيَاaḥyāhe has saved
26. ٱلنَّاسَl-nāsamankind
27. جَمِيعًۭا ۚjamīʿanall
28. وَلَقَدْwalaqadAnd surely
29. جَآءَتْهُمْjāathumcame to them
30. رُسُلُنَاrusulunāOur Messengers
31. بِٱلْبَيِّنَـٰتِbil-bayinātiwith clear Signs
32. ثُمَّthummayet
33. إِنَّinnaindeed
34. كَثِيرًۭاkathīranmany
35. مِّنْهُمmin'humof them
36. بَعْدَbaʿdaafter
37. ذَٰلِكَdhālikathat
38. فِىfīin
39. ٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earth
40. لَمُسْرِفُونَlamus'rifūna(are) surely those who commit excesses

إِنَّمَا جَزَٰٓؤُا۟ ٱلَّذِينَ يُحَارِبُونَ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ وَيَسْعَوْنَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ فَسَادًا أَن يُقَتَّلُوٓا۟ أَوْ يُصَلَّبُوٓا۟ أَوْ تُقَطَّعَ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَأَرْجُلُهُم مِّنْ خِلَـٰفٍ أَوْ يُنفَوْا۟ مِنَ ٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ لَهُمْ خِزْىٌ فِى ٱلدُّنْيَا ۖ وَلَهُمْ فِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ عَذَابٌ عَظِيمٌ

Transliteration innamā jazāu alladhīna yuḥāribūna l-laha warasūlahu wayasʿawna fī l-arḍi fasādan an yuqattalū aw yuṣallabū aw tuqaṭṭaʿa aydīhim wa-arjuluhum min khilāfin aw yunfaw mina l-arḍi dhālika lahum khiz'yun fī l-dun'yā walahum fī l-ākhirati ʿadhābun ʿaẓīmun

English Indeed, the penalty for those who wage war against Allāh and His Messenger and strive upon earth [to cause] corruption is none but that they be killed or crucified or that their hands and feet be cut off from opposite sides or that they be exiled from the land. That is for them a disgrace in this world; and for them in the Hereafter is a great punishment,

1. إِنَّمَاinnamāOnly
2. جَزَٰٓؤُا۟jazāu(the) recompense
3. ٱلَّذِينَalladhīna(for) those who
4. يُحَارِبُونَyuḥāribūnawage war
5. ٱللَّهَl-laha(against) Allah
6. وَرَسُولَهُۥwarasūlahuand His Messenger
7. وَيَسْعَوْنَwayasʿawnaand strive
8. فِىfīin
9. ٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earth
10. فَسَادًاfasādanspreading corruption
11. أَنan(is) that
12. يُقَتَّلُوٓا۟yuqattalūthey be killed
13. أَوْawor
14. يُصَلَّبُوٓا۟yuṣallabūthey be crucified
15. أَوْawor
16. تُقَطَّعَtuqaṭṭaʿabe cut off
17. أَيْدِيهِمْaydīhimtheir hands
18. وَأَرْجُلُهُمwa-arjuluhumand their feet
19. مِّنْminof
20. خِلَـٰفٍkhilāfinopposite sides
21. أَوْawor
22. يُنفَوْا۟yunfawthey be exiled
23. مِنَminafrom
24. ٱلْأَرْضِ ۚl-arḍithe land
25. ذَٰلِكَdhālikaThat
26. لَهُمْlahum(is) for them
27. خِزْىٌۭkhiz'yundisgrace
28. فِىfīin
29. ٱلدُّنْيَا ۖl-dun'yāthe world
30. وَلَهُمْwalahumand for them
31. فِىfīin
32. ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِl-ākhiratithe Hereafter
33. عَذَابٌʿadhābun(is) a punishment
34. عَظِيمٌʿaẓīmungreat

إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ تَابُوا۟ مِن قَبْلِ أَن تَقْدِرُوا۟ عَلَيْهِمْ ۖ فَٱعْلَمُوٓا۟ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ

Transliteration illā alladhīna tābū min qabli an taqdirū ʿalayhim fa-iʿ'lamū anna l-laha ghafūrun raḥīmun

English Except for those who return [repenting] before you overcome [i.e., apprehend] them. And know that Allāh is Forgiving and Merciful.

1. إِلَّاillāExcept
2. ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
3. تَابُوا۟tābūrepent
4. مِنminfrom
5. قَبْلِqablibefore
6. أَنanthat
7. تَقْدِرُوا۟taqdirūyou overpower
8. عَلَيْهِمْ ۖʿalayhim[over] them
9. فَٱعْلَمُوٓا۟fa-iʿ'lamūthen know
10. أَنَّannathat
11. ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
12. غَفُورٌۭghafūrun(is) Oft-Forgiving
13. رَّحِيمٌۭraḥīmunMost Merciful

يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ ٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَٱبْتَغُوٓا۟ إِلَيْهِ ٱلْوَسِيلَةَ وَجَـٰهِدُوا۟ فِى سَبِيلِهِۦ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُونَ

Transliteration yāayyuhā alladhīna āmanū ittaqū l-laha wa-ib'taghū ilayhi l-wasīlata wajāhidū fī sabīlihi laʿallakum tuf'liḥūna

English O you who have believed, fear Allāh and seek the means [of nearness] to Him and strive in His cause that you may succeed.

1. يَـٰٓأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO you
2. ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnawho
3. ءَامَنُوا۟āmanūbelieve
4. ٱتَّقُوا۟ittaqūFear
5. ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
6. وَٱبْتَغُوٓا۟wa-ib'taghūand seek
7. إِلَيْهِilayhitowards Him
8. ٱلْوَسِيلَةَl-wasīlatathe means
9. وَجَـٰهِدُوا۟wajāhidūand strive hard
10. فِىfīin
11. سَبِيلِهِۦsabīlihiHis way
12. لَعَلَّكُمْlaʿallakumso that you may
13. تُفْلِحُونَtuf'liḥūnasucceed

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ لَوْ أَنَّ لَهُم مَّا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ جَمِيعًا وَمِثْلَهُۥ مَعَهُۥ لِيَفْتَدُوا۟ بِهِۦ مِنْ عَذَابِ يَوْمِ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ مَا تُقُبِّلَ مِنْهُمْ ۖ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ

Transliteration inna alladhīna kafarū law anna lahum mā fī l-arḍi jamīʿan wamith'lahu maʿahu liyaftadū bihi min ʿadhābi yawmi l-qiyāmati mā tuqubbila min'hum walahum ʿadhābun alīmun

English Indeed, those who disbelieve - if they should have all that is in the earth and the like of it with it by which to ransom themselves from the punishment of the Day of Resurrection, it will not be accepted from them, and for them is a painful punishment.

1. إِنَّinnaIndeed
2. ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
3. كَفَرُوا۟kafarūdisbelieve
4. لَوْlawif
5. أَنَّannathat
6. لَهُمlahumfor them
7. مَّاmā(is) what
8. فِىfī(is) in
9. ٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earth
10. جَمِيعًۭاjamīʿanall
11. وَمِثْلَهُۥwamith'lahuand the like of it
12. مَعَهُۥmaʿahuwith it
13. لِيَفْتَدُوا۟liyaftadūto ransom themselves
14. بِهِۦbihiwith it
15. مِنْminfrom
16. عَذَابِʿadhābi(the) punishment
17. يَوْمِyawmi(of the) Day
18. ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِl-qiyāmati(of) the Resurrection
19. مَاmānot
20. تُقُبِّلَtuqubbilawill be accepted
21. مِنْهُمْ ۖmin'humfrom them
22. وَلَهُمْwalahumand for them
23. عَذَابٌʿadhābun(is) a punishment
24. أَلِيمٌۭalīmunpainful

يُرِيدُونَ أَن يَخْرُجُوا۟ مِنَ ٱلنَّارِ وَمَا هُم بِخَـٰرِجِينَ مِنْهَا ۖ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ مُّقِيمٌ

Transliteration yurīdūna an yakhrujū mina l-nāri wamā hum bikhārijīna min'hā walahum ʿadhābun muqīmun

English They will wish to get out of the Fire, but never are they to emerge therefrom, and for them is an enduring punishment.

1. يُرِيدُونَyurīdūnaThey will wish
2. أَنanthat
3. يَخْرُجُوا۟yakhrujūthey come out
4. مِنَminaof
5. ٱلنَّارِl-nārithe Fire
6. وَمَاwamābut not
7. هُمhumthey
8. بِخَـٰرِجِينَbikhārijīnawill come out
9. مِنْهَا ۖmin'hāof it
10. وَلَهُمْwalahumAnd for them
11. عَذَابٌۭʿadhābun(is) a punishment
12. مُّقِيمٌۭmuqīmunlasting

وَٱلسَّارِقُ وَٱلسَّارِقَةُ فَٱقْطَعُوٓا۟ أَيْدِيَهُمَا جَزَآءًۢ بِمَا كَسَبَا نَكَـٰلًا مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ عَزِيزٌ حَكِيمٌ

Transliteration wal-sāriqu wal-sāriqatu fa-iq'ṭaʿū aydiyahumā jazāan bimā kasabā nakālan mina l-lahi wal-lahu ʿazīzun ḥakīmun

English [As for] the thief, the male and the female, amputate their hands in recompense for what they earned [i.e., committed] as a deterrent [punishment] from Allāh. And Allāh is Exalted in Might and Wise.

1. وَٱلسَّارِقُwal-sāriquAnd (for) the male thief
2. وَٱلسَّارِقَةُwal-sāriqatuand the female thief
3. فَٱقْطَعُوٓا۟fa-iq'ṭaʿū[then] cut off
4. أَيْدِيَهُمَاaydiyahumātheir hands
5. جَزَآءًۢjazāan(as) a recompense
6. بِمَاbimāfor what
7. كَسَبَاkasabāthey earned
8. نَكَـٰلًۭاnakālan(as) an exemplary (punishment)
9. مِّنَminafrom
10. ٱللَّهِ ۗl-lahiAllah
11. وَٱللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allah
12. عَزِيزٌʿazīzun(is) All-Mighty
13. حَكِيمٌۭḥakīmunAll-Wise

فَمَن تَابَ مِنۢ بَعْدِ ظُلْمِهِۦ وَأَصْلَحَ فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَتُوبُ عَلَيْهِ ۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ

Transliteration faman tāba min baʿdi ẓul'mihi wa-aṣlaḥa fa-inna l-laha yatūbu ʿalayhi inna l-laha ghafūrun raḥīmun

English But whoever repents after his wrongdoing and reforms, indeed, Allāh will turn to him in forgiveness. Indeed, Allāh is Forgiving and Merciful.

1. فَمَنfamanBut whoever
2. تَابَtābarepented
3. مِنۢminfrom
4. بَعْدِbaʿdiafter
5. ظُلْمِهِۦẓul'mihihis wrongdoing
6. وَأَصْلَحَwa-aṣlaḥaand reforms
7. فَإِنَّfa-innathen indeed
8. ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
9. يَتُوبُyatūbuwill turn in forgiveness
10. عَلَيْهِ ۗʿalayhito him
11. إِنَّinnaIndeed
12. ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
13. غَفُورٌۭghafūrun(is) Oft-Forgiving
14. رَّحِيمٌraḥīmunMost Merciful

أَلَمْ تَعْلَمْ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَهُۥ مُلْكُ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ يُعَذِّبُ مَن يَشَآءُ وَيَغْفِرُ لِمَن يَشَآءُ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ قَدِيرٌ

Transliteration alam taʿlam anna l-laha lahu mul'ku l-samāwāti wal-arḍi yuʿadhibu man yashāu wayaghfiru liman yashāu wal-lahu ʿalā kulli shayin qadīrun

English Do you not know that to Allāh belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth? He punishes whom He wills and forgives whom He wills, and Allāh is over all things competent.

1. أَلَمْalamDo not
2. تَعْلَمْtaʿlamyou know
3. أَنَّannathat
4. ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
5. لَهُۥlahuto Him (belongs)
6. مُلْكُmul'ku(the) dominion
7. ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِl-samāwāti(of) the heavens
8. وَٱلْأَرْضِwal-arḍiand the earth
9. يُعَذِّبُyuʿadhibuHe punishes
10. مَنmanwhom
11. يَشَآءُyashāuHe wills
12. وَيَغْفِرُwayaghfiruand He forgives
13. لِمَنliman[to] whom
14. يَشَآءُ ۗyashāuHe wills
15. وَٱللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allah
16. عَلَىٰʿalā(is) on
17. كُلِّkullievery
18. شَىْءٍۢshayinthing
19. قَدِيرٌۭqadīrunAll-Powerful

۞ يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلرَّسُولُ لَا يَحْزُنكَ ٱلَّذِينَ يُسَـٰرِعُونَ فِى ٱلْكُفْرِ مِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ قَالُوٓا۟ ءَامَنَّا بِأَفْوَٰهِهِمْ وَلَمْ تُؤْمِن قُلُوبُهُمْ ۛ وَمِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ هَادُوا۟ ۛ سَمَّـٰعُونَ لِلْكَذِبِ سَمَّـٰعُونَ لِقَوْمٍ ءَاخَرِينَ لَمْ يَأْتُوكَ ۖ يُحَرِّفُونَ ٱلْكَلِمَ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَوَاضِعِهِۦ ۖ يَقُولُونَ إِنْ أُوتِيتُمْ هَـٰذَا فَخُذُوهُ وَإِن لَّمْ تُؤْتَوْهُ فَٱحْذَرُوا۟ ۚ وَمَن يُرِدِ ٱللَّهُ فِتْنَتَهُۥ فَلَن تَمْلِكَ لَهُۥ مِنَ ٱللَّهِ شَيْـًٔا ۚ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ ٱلَّذِينَ لَمْ يُرِدِ ٱللَّهُ أَن يُطَهِّرَ قُلُوبَهُمْ ۚ لَهُمْ فِى ٱلدُّنْيَا خِزْىٌ ۖ وَلَهُمْ فِى ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ عَذَابٌ عَظِيمٌ

Transliteration yāayyuhā l-rasūlu lā yaḥzunka alladhīna yusāriʿūna fī l-kuf'ri mina alladhīna qālū āmannā bi-afwāhihim walam tu'min qulūbuhum wamina alladhīna hādū sammāʿūna lil'kadhibi sammāʿūna liqawmin ākharīna lam yatūka yuḥarrifūna l-kalima min baʿdi mawāḍiʿihi yaqūlūna in ūtītum hādhā fakhudhūhu wa-in lam tu'tawhu fa-iḥ'dharū waman yuridi l-lahu fit'natahu falan tamlika lahu mina l-lahi shayan ulāika alladhīna lam yuridi l-lahu an yuṭahhira qulūbahum lahum fī l-dun'yā khiz'yun walahum fī l-ākhirati ʿadhābun ʿaẓīmun

English O Messenger, let them not grieve you who hasten into disbelief of those who say, "We believe" with their mouths, but their hearts believe not, and from among the Jews. [They are] avid listeners to falsehood, listening to another people who have not come to you. They distort words beyond their [proper] places [i.e., usages], saying, "If you are given this, take it; but if you are not given it, then beware." But he for whom Allāh intends fitnah - never will you possess [power to do] for him a thing against Allāh. Those are the ones for whom Allāh does not intend to purify their hearts. For them in this world is disgrace, and for them in the Hereafter is a great punishment.

1. ۞ يَـٰٓأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO
2. ٱلرَّسُولُl-rasūluMessenger
3. لَاlāLet not
4. يَحْزُنكَyaḥzunkagrieve you
5. ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
6. يُسَـٰرِعُونَyusāriʿūnahasten
7. فِىfīin (to)
8. ٱلْكُفْرِl-kuf'ri[the] disbelief
9. مِنَminaof
10. ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
11. قَالُوٓا۟qālūsaid
12. ءَامَنَّاāmannāWe believe
13. بِأَفْوَٰهِهِمْbi-afwāhihimwith their mouths
14. وَلَمْwalamand not
15. تُؤْمِنtu'minbelieve
16. قُلُوبُهُمْ ۛqulūbuhumtheir hearts
17. وَمِنَwaminaand from
18. ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
19. هَادُوا۟ ۛhādū(are) Jews
20. سَمَّـٰعُونَsammāʿūnaThey (are) listeners
21. لِلْكَذِبِlil'kadhibito falsehood
22. سَمَّـٰعُونَsammāʿūna(and) listeners
23. لِقَوْمٍliqawminfor people
24. ءَاخَرِينَākharīnaother
25. لَمْlam(who have) not
26. يَأْتُوكَ ۖyatūkacome to you
27. يُحَرِّفُونَyuḥarrifūnaThey distort
28. ٱلْكَلِمَl-kalimathe words
29. مِنۢminfrom
30. بَعْدِbaʿdiafter
31. مَوَاضِعِهِۦ ۖmawāḍiʿihitheir context
32. يَقُولُونَyaqūlūnasaying
33. إِنْinIf
34. أُوتِيتُمْūtītumyou are given
35. هَـٰذَاhādhāthis
36. فَخُذُوهُfakhudhūhu[so] take it
37. وَإِنwa-inbut if
38. لَّمْlamnot
39. تُؤْتَوْهُtu'tawhuyou are given it
40. فَٱحْذَرُوا۟ ۚfa-iḥ'dharūthen beware
41. وَمَنwamanAnd (for) whom
42. يُرِدِyuridiintends
43. ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah
44. فِتْنَتَهُۥfit'natahuhis trial
45. فَلَنfalanthen never
46. تَمْلِكَtamlikawill you have power
47. لَهُۥlahufor him
48. مِنَminaagainst
49. ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
50. شَيْـًٔا ۚshayananything
51. أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَulāikaThose
52. ٱلَّذِينَalladhīna(are) the ones
53. لَمْlamnever
54. يُرِدِyuridiwill intend
55. ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah
56. أَنanthat
57. يُطَهِّرَyuṭahhiraHe purifies
58. قُلُوبَهُمْ ۚqulūbahumtheir hearts
59. لَهُمْlahumFor them
60. فِىfīin
61. ٱلدُّنْيَاl-dun'yāthe world
62. خِزْىٌۭ ۖkhiz'yun(is) disgrace
63. وَلَهُمْwalahumand for them
64. فِىfīin
65. ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِl-ākhiratithe Hereafter
66. عَذَابٌʿadhābun(is) a punishment
67. عَظِيمٌۭʿaẓīmungreat

سَمَّـٰعُونَ لِلْكَذِبِ أَكَّـٰلُونَ لِلسُّحْتِ ۚ فَإِن جَآءُوكَ فَٱحْكُم بَيْنَهُمْ أَوْ أَعْرِضْ عَنْهُمْ ۖ وَإِن تُعْرِضْ عَنْهُمْ فَلَن يَضُرُّوكَ شَيْـًٔا ۖ وَإِنْ حَكَمْتَ فَٱحْكُم بَيْنَهُم بِٱلْقِسْطِ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يُحِبُّ ٱلْمُقْسِطِينَ

Transliteration sammāʿūna lil'kadhibi akkālūna lilssuḥ'ti fa-in jāūka fa-uḥ'kum baynahum aw aʿriḍ ʿanhum wa-in tuʿ'riḍ ʿanhum falan yaḍurrūka shayan wa-in ḥakamta fa-uḥ'kum baynahum bil-qis'ṭi inna l-laha yuḥibbu l-muq'siṭīna

English [They are] avid listeners to falsehood, devourers of [what is] unlawful. So if they come to you, [O Muḥammad], judge between them or turn away from them. And if you turn away from them - never will they harm you at all. And if you judge, judge between them with justice. Indeed, Allāh loves those who act justly.

1. سَمَّـٰعُونَsammāʿūnaListeners
2. لِلْكَذِبِlil'kadhibito [the] falsehood
3. أَكَّـٰلُونَakkālūnadevourers
4. لِلسُّحْتِ ۚlilssuḥ'tiof the forbidden
5. فَإِنfa-inSo if
6. جَآءُوكَjāūkathey come to you
7. فَٱحْكُمfa-uḥ'kumthen judge
8. بَيْنَهُمْbaynahumbetween them
9. أَوْawor
10. أَعْرِضْaʿriḍturn away
11. عَنْهُمْ ۖʿanhumfrom them
12. وَإِنwa-inAnd if
13. تُعْرِضْtuʿ'riḍyou turn away
14. عَنْهُمْʿanhumfrom them
15. فَلَنfalanthen never
16. يَضُرُّوكَyaḍurrūkawill they harm you
17. شَيْـًۭٔا ۖshayan(in) anything
18. وَإِنْwa-inAnd if
19. حَكَمْتَḥakamtayou judge
20. فَٱحْكُمfa-uḥ'kumthen judge
21. بَيْنَهُمbaynahumbetween them
22. بِٱلْقِسْطِ ۚbil-qis'ṭiwith [the] justice
23. إِنَّinnaIndeed
24. ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
25. يُحِبُّyuḥibbuloves
26. ٱلْمُقْسِطِينَl-muq'siṭīnathe ones who are just

وَكَيْفَ يُحَكِّمُونَكَ وَعِندَهُمُ ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةُ فِيهَا حُكْمُ ٱللَّهِ ثُمَّ يَتَوَلَّوْنَ مِنۢ بَعْدِ ذَٰلِكَ ۚ وَمَآ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ بِٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ

Transliteration wakayfa yuḥakkimūnaka waʿindahumu l-tawrātu fīhā ḥuk'mu l-lahi thumma yatawallawna min baʿdi dhālika wamā ulāika bil-mu'minīna

English But how is it that they come to you for judgement while they have the Torah, in which is the judgement of Allāh? Then they turn away, [even] after that; but those are not [in fact] believers.

1. وَكَيْفَwakayfaBut how can
2. يُحَكِّمُونَكَyuḥakkimūnakathey appoint you a judge
3. وَعِندَهُمُwaʿindahumuwhile they (have) with them
4. ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةُl-tawrātuthe Taurat
5. فِيهَاfīhāin it
6. حُكْمُḥuk'mu(is the) Command
7. ٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allah
8. ثُمَّthummaThen
9. يَتَوَلَّوْنَyatawallawnathey turn away
10. مِنۢminfrom
11. بَعْدِbaʿdiafter
12. ذَٰلِكَ ۚdhālikathat
13. وَمَآwamāand not
14. أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَulāikathose
15. بِٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَbil-mu'minīna(are) the believers

إِنَّآ أَنزَلْنَا ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةَ فِيهَا هُدًى وَنُورٌ ۚ يَحْكُمُ بِهَا ٱلنَّبِيُّونَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَسْلَمُوا۟ لِلَّذِينَ هَادُوا۟ وَٱلرَّبَّـٰنِيُّونَ وَٱلْأَحْبَارُ بِمَا ٱسْتُحْفِظُوا۟ مِن كِتَـٰبِ ٱللَّهِ وَكَانُوا۟ عَلَيْهِ شُهَدَآءَ ۚ فَلَا تَخْشَوُا۟ ٱلنَّاسَ وَٱخْشَوْنِ وَلَا تَشْتَرُوا۟ بِـَٔايَـٰتِى ثَمَنًا قَلِيلًا ۚ وَمَن لَّمْ يَحْكُم بِمَآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ فَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْكَـٰفِرُونَ

Transliteration innā anzalnā l-tawrāta fīhā hudan wanūrun yaḥkumu bihā l-nabiyūna alladhīna aslamū lilladhīna hādū wal-rabāniyūna wal-aḥbāru bimā us'tuḥ'fiẓū min kitābi l-lahi wakānū ʿalayhi shuhadāa falā takhshawū l-nāsa wa-ikh'shawni walā tashtarū biāyātī thamanan qalīlan waman lam yaḥkum bimā anzala l-lahu fa-ulāika humu l-kāfirūna

English Indeed, We sent down the Torah, in which was guidance and light. The prophets who submitted [to Allāh] judged by it for the Jews, as did the rabbis and scholars by that with which they were entrusted of the Scripture of Allāh, and they were witnesses thereto. So do not fear the people but fear Me, and do not exchange My verses for a small price [i.e., worldly gain]. And whoever does not judge by what Allāh has revealed - then it is those who are the disbelievers.

1. إِنَّآinnāIndeed
2. أَنزَلْنَاanzalnāWe revealed
3. ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةَl-tawrātathe Taurat
4. فِيهَاfīhāin it
5. هُدًۭىhudan(was) Guidance
6. وَنُورٌۭ ۚwanūrunand light
7. يَحْكُمُyaḥkumujudged
8. بِهَاbihāby it
9. ٱلنَّبِيُّونَl-nabiyūnathe Prophets
10. ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
11. أَسْلَمُوا۟aslamūhad submitted (to Allah)
12. لِلَّذِينَlilladhīnafor those who
13. هَادُوا۟hādūwere Jews
14. وَٱلرَّبَّـٰنِيُّونَwal-rabāniyūnaand the Rabbis
15. وَٱلْأَحْبَارُwal-aḥbāruand the scholars
16. بِمَاbimāwith what
17. ٱسْتُحْفِظُوا۟us'tuḥ'fiẓūthey were entrusted
18. مِنminof
19. كِتَـٰبِkitābi(the) Book
20. ٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allah
21. وَكَانُوا۟wakānūand they were
22. عَلَيْهِʿalayhito it
23. شُهَدَآءَ ۚshuhadāawitnesses
24. فَلَاfalāSo (do) not
25. تَخْشَوُا۟takhshawūfear
26. ٱلنَّاسَl-nāsathe people
27. وَٱخْشَوْنِwa-ikh'shawnibut fear Me
28. وَلَاwalāand (do) not
29. تَشْتَرُوا۟tashtarūsell
30. بِـَٔايَـٰتِىbiāyātīMy Verses
31. ثَمَنًۭاthamanan(for) a price
32. قَلِيلًۭا ۚqalīlanlittle
33. وَمَنwamanAnd whoever
34. لَّمْlam(does) not
35. يَحْكُمyaḥkumjudge
36. بِمَآbimāby what
37. أَنزَلَanzalahas revealed
38. ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah
39. فَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَfa-ulāikathen those
40. هُمُhumu[they]
41. ٱلْكَـٰفِرُونَl-kāfirūna(are) the disbelievers

وَكَتَبْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ فِيهَآ أَنَّ ٱلنَّفْسَ بِٱلنَّفْسِ وَٱلْعَيْنَ بِٱلْعَيْنِ وَٱلْأَنفَ بِٱلْأَنفِ وَٱلْأُذُنَ بِٱلْأُذُنِ وَٱلسِّنَّ بِٱلسِّنِّ وَٱلْجُرُوحَ قِصَاصٌ ۚ فَمَن تَصَدَّقَ بِهِۦ فَهُوَ كَفَّارَةٌ لَّهُۥ ۚ وَمَن لَّمْ يَحْكُم بِمَآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ فَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَ

Transliteration wakatabnā ʿalayhim fīhā anna l-nafsa bil-nafsi wal-ʿayna bil-ʿayni wal-anfa bil-anfi wal-udhuna bil-udhuni wal-sina bil-sini wal-jurūḥa qiṣāṣun faman taṣaddaqa bihi fahuwa kaffāratun lahu waman lam yaḥkum bimā anzala l-lahu fa-ulāika humu l-ẓālimūna

English And We ordained for them therein a life for a life, an eye for an eye, a nose for a nose, an ear for an ear, a tooth for a tooth, and for wounds is legal retribution. But whoever gives [up his right as] charity, it is an expiation for him. And whoever does not judge by what Allāh has revealed - then it is those who are the wrongdoers [i.e., the unjust].

1. وَكَتَبْنَاwakatabnāAnd We ordained
2. عَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimfor them
3. فِيهَآfīhāin it
4. أَنَّannathat
5. ٱلنَّفْسَl-nafsathe life
6. بِٱلنَّفْسِbil-nafsifor the life
7. وَٱلْعَيْنَwal-ʿaynaand the eye
8. بِٱلْعَيْنِbil-ʿaynifor the eye
9. وَٱلْأَنفَwal-anfaand the nose
10. بِٱلْأَنفِbil-anfifor the nose
11. وَٱلْأُذُنَwal-udhunaand the ear
12. بِٱلْأُذُنِbil-udhunifor the ear
13. وَٱلسِّنَّwal-sinaand the tooth
14. بِٱلسِّنِّbil-sinifor the tooth
15. وَٱلْجُرُوحَwal-jurūḥaand (for) wounds
16. قِصَاصٌۭ ۚqiṣāṣun(is) retribution
17. فَمَنfamanBut whoever
18. تَصَدَّقَtaṣaddaqagives charity
19. بِهِۦbihiwith it
20. فَهُوَfahuwathen it is
21. كَفَّارَةٌۭkaffāratunan expiation
22. لَّهُۥ ۚlahufor him
23. وَمَنwamanAnd whoever
24. لَّمْlam(does) not
25. يَحْكُمyaḥkumjudge
26. بِمَآbimāby what
27. أَنزَلَanzalahas revealed
28. ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah
29. فَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَfa-ulāikathen those
30. هُمُhumu[they]
31. ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَl-ẓālimūna(are) the wrongdoers

وَقَفَّيْنَا عَلَىٰٓ ءَاثَـٰرِهِم بِعِيسَى ٱبْنِ مَرْيَمَ مُصَدِّقًا لِّمَا بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ مِنَ ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةِ ۖ وَءَاتَيْنَـٰهُ ٱلْإِنجِيلَ فِيهِ هُدًى وَنُورٌ وَمُصَدِّقًا لِّمَا بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ مِنَ ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةِ وَهُدًى وَمَوْعِظَةً لِّلْمُتَّقِينَ

Transliteration waqaffaynā ʿalā āthārihim biʿīsā ib'ni maryama muṣaddiqan limā bayna yadayhi mina l-tawrāti waātaynāhu l-injīla fīhi hudan wanūrun wamuṣaddiqan limā bayna yadayhi mina l-tawrāti wahudan wamawʿiẓatan lil'muttaqīna

English And We sent, following in their footsteps, Jesus, the son of Mary, confirming that which came before him in the Torah; and We gave him the Gospel, in which was guidance and light and confirming that which preceded it of the Torah as guidance and instruction for the righteous.

1. وَقَفَّيْنَاwaqaffaynāAnd We sent
2. عَلَىٰٓʿalāon
3. ءَاثَـٰرِهِمāthārihimtheir footsteps
4. بِعِيسَىbiʿīsāIsa
5. ٱبْنِib'nison
6. مَرْيَمَmaryama(of) Maryam
7. مُصَدِّقًۭاmuṣaddiqanconfirming
8. لِّمَاlimāwhat
9. بَيْنَbayna(was) between
10. يَدَيْهِyadayhihis hands
11. مِنَminaof
12. ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةِ ۖl-tawrātithe Taurat
13. وَءَاتَيْنَـٰهُwaātaynāhuand We gave him
14. ٱلْإِنجِيلَl-injīlathe Injeel
15. فِيهِfīhiin it
16. هُدًۭىhudan(was) Guidance
17. وَنُورٌۭwanūrunand light
18. وَمُصَدِّقًۭاwamuṣaddiqanand confirming
19. لِّمَاlimāwhat
20. بَيْنَbayna(was) between
21. يَدَيْهِyadayhihis hands
22. مِنَminaof
23. ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةِl-tawrātithe Taurat
24. وَهُدًۭىwahudanand a Guidance
25. وَمَوْعِظَةًۭwamawʿiẓatanand an admonition
26. لِّلْمُتَّقِينَlil'muttaqīnafor the God conscious

وَلْيَحْكُمْ أَهْلُ ٱلْإِنجِيلِ بِمَآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ فِيهِ ۚ وَمَن لَّمْ يَحْكُم بِمَآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ فَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْفَـٰسِقُونَ

Transliteration walyaḥkum ahlu l-injīli bimā anzala l-lahu fīhi waman lam yaḥkum bimā anzala l-lahu fa-ulāika humu l-fāsiqūna

English And let the People of the Gospel judge by what Allāh has revealed therein. And whoever does not judge by what Allāh has revealed - then it is those who are the defiantly disobedient.

1. وَلْيَحْكُمْwalyaḥkumAnd let judge
2. أَهْلُahlu(the) People
3. ٱلْإِنجِيلِl-injīli(of) the Injeel
4. بِمَآbimāby what
5. أَنزَلَanzalahas revealed
6. ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah
7. فِيهِ ۚfīhiin it
8. وَمَنwamanAnd whoever
9. لَّمْlam(does) not
10. يَحْكُمyaḥkumjudge
11. بِمَآbimāby what
12. أَنزَلَanzalahas revealed
13. ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah
14. فَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَfa-ulāikathen those
15. هُمُhumu[they] (are)
16. ٱلْفَـٰسِقُونَl-fāsiqūnathe defiantly disobedient

وَأَنزَلْنَآ إِلَيْكَ ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ بِٱلْحَقِّ مُصَدِّقًا لِّمَا بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ مِنَ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ وَمُهَيْمِنًا عَلَيْهِ ۖ فَٱحْكُم بَيْنَهُم بِمَآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ ۖ وَلَا تَتَّبِعْ أَهْوَآءَهُمْ عَمَّا جَآءَكَ مِنَ ٱلْحَقِّ ۚ لِكُلٍّ جَعَلْنَا مِنكُمْ شِرْعَةً وَمِنْهَاجًا ۚ وَلَوْ شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ لَجَعَلَكُمْ أُمَّةً وَٰحِدَةً وَلَـٰكِن لِّيَبْلُوَكُمْ فِى مَآ ءَاتَىٰكُمْ ۖ فَٱسْتَبِقُوا۟ ٱلْخَيْرَٰتِ ۚ إِلَى ٱللَّهِ مَرْجِعُكُمْ جَمِيعًا فَيُنَبِّئُكُم بِمَا كُنتُمْ فِيهِ تَخْتَلِفُونَ

Transliteration wa-anzalnā ilayka l-kitāba bil-ḥaqi muṣaddiqan limā bayna yadayhi mina l-kitābi wamuhayminan ʿalayhi fa-uḥ'kum baynahum bimā anzala l-lahu walā tattabiʿ ahwāahum ʿammā jāaka mina l-ḥaqi likullin jaʿalnā minkum shir'ʿatan wamin'hājan walaw shāa l-lahu lajaʿalakum ummatan wāḥidatan walākin liyabluwakum fī mā ātākum fa-is'tabiqū l-khayrāti ilā l-lahi marjiʿukum jamīʿan fayunabbi-ukum bimā kuntum fīhi takhtalifūna

English And We have revealed to you, [O Muḥammad], the Book [i.e., the Qur’ān] in truth, confirming that which preceded it of the Scripture and as a criterion over it. So judge between them by what Allāh has revealed and do not follow their inclinations away from what has come to you of the truth. To each of you We prescribed a law and a method. Had Allāh willed, He would have made you one nation [united in religion], but [He intended] to test you in what He has given you; so race to [all that is] good. To Allāh is your return all together, and He will [then] inform you concerning that over which you used to differ.

1. وَأَنزَلْنَآwa-anzalnāAnd We revealed
2. إِلَيْكَilaykato you
3. ٱلْكِتَـٰبَl-kitābathe Book
4. بِٱلْحَقِّbil-ḥaqiin [the] truth
5. مُصَدِّقًۭاmuṣaddiqanconfirming
6. لِّمَاlimāwhat
7. بَيْنَbayna(was) before
8. يَدَيْهِyadayhihis hands
9. مِنَminaof
10. ٱلْكِتَـٰبِl-kitābithe Book
11. وَمُهَيْمِنًاwamuhayminanand a guardian
12. عَلَيْهِ ۖʿalayhiover it
13. فَٱحْكُمfa-uḥ'kumSo judge
14. بَيْنَهُمbaynahumbetween them
15. بِمَآbimāby what
16. أَنزَلَanzalahas revealed
17. ٱللَّهُ ۖl-lahuAllah
18. وَلَاwalāand (do) not
19. تَتَّبِعْtattabiʿfollow
20. أَهْوَآءَهُمْahwāahumtheir vain desires
21. عَمَّاʿammāwhen
22. جَآءَكَjāakahas come to you
23. مِنَminaof
24. ٱلْحَقِّ ۚl-ḥaqithe truth
25. لِكُلٍّۢlikullinFor each
26. جَعَلْنَاjaʿalnāWe have made
27. مِنكُمْminkumfor you
28. شِرْعَةًۭshir'ʿatana law
29. وَمِنْهَاجًۭا ۚwamin'hājanand a clear way
30. وَلَوْwalawAnd if
31. شَآءَshāa(had) willed
32. ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah
33. لَجَعَلَكُمْlajaʿalakumHe (would have) made you
34. أُمَّةًۭummatana community
35. وَٰحِدَةًۭwāḥidatanone
36. وَلَـٰكِنwalākin[and] but
37. لِّيَبْلُوَكُمْliyabluwakumto test you
38. فِىfīin
39. مَآmāwhat
40. ءَاتَىٰكُمْ ۖātākumHe (has) given you
41. فَٱسْتَبِقُوا۟fa-is'tabiqūso race
42. ٱلْخَيْرَٰتِ ۚl-khayrāti(to) the good
43. إِلَىilāTo
44. ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
45. مَرْجِعُكُمْmarjiʿukumyou will return
46. جَمِيعًۭاjamīʿanall
47. فَيُنَبِّئُكُمfayunabbi-ukumthen He will inform you
48. بِمَاbimāof what
49. كُنتُمْkuntumyou were
50. فِيهِfīhiconcerning it
51. تَخْتَلِفُونَtakhtalifūnadiffering

وَأَنِ ٱحْكُم بَيْنَهُم بِمَآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ وَلَا تَتَّبِعْ أَهْوَآءَهُمْ وَٱحْذَرْهُمْ أَن يَفْتِنُوكَ عَنۢ بَعْضِ مَآ أَنزَلَ ٱللَّهُ إِلَيْكَ ۖ فَإِن تَوَلَّوْا۟ فَٱعْلَمْ أَنَّمَا يُرِيدُ ٱللَّهُ أَن يُصِيبَهُم بِبَعْضِ ذُنُوبِهِمْ ۗ وَإِنَّ كَثِيرًا مِّنَ ٱلنَّاسِ لَفَـٰسِقُونَ

Transliteration wa-ani uḥ'kum baynahum bimā anzala l-lahu walā tattabiʿ ahwāahum wa-iḥ'dharhum an yaftinūka ʿan baʿḍi mā anzala l-lahu ilayka fa-in tawallaw fa-iʿ'lam annamā yurīdu l-lahu an yuṣībahum bibaʿḍi dhunūbihim wa-inna kathīran mina l-nāsi lafāsiqūna

English And judge, [O Muḥammad], between them by what Allāh has revealed and do not follow their inclinations and beware of them, lest they tempt you away from some of what Allāh has revealed to you. And if they turn away - then know that Allāh only intends to afflict them with some of their [own] sins. And indeed, many among the people are defiantly disobedient.

1. وَأَنِwa-aniAnd that
2. ٱحْكُمuḥ'kumyou judge
3. بَيْنَهُمbaynahumbetween them
4. بِمَآbimāby what
5. أَنزَلَanzala(has) revealed
6. ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah
7. وَلَاwalāand (do) not
8. تَتَّبِعْtattabiʿfollow
9. أَهْوَآءَهُمْahwāahumtheir vain desires
10. وَٱحْذَرْهُمْwa-iḥ'dharhumand beware of them
11. أَنanlest
12. يَفْتِنُوكَyaftinūkathey tempt you away
13. عَنۢʿanfrom
14. بَعْضِbaʿḍisome
15. مَآmā(of) what
16. أَنزَلَanzalahas revealed
17. ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah
18. إِلَيْكَ ۖilaykato you
19. فَإِنfa-inAnd if
20. تَوَلَّوْا۟tawallawthey turn away
21. فَٱعْلَمْfa-iʿ'lamthen know that
22. أَنَّمَاannamāonly
23. يُرِيدُyurīduintends
24. ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah
25. أَنanto
26. يُصِيبَهُمyuṣībahumafflict them
27. بِبَعْضِbibaʿḍifor some
28. ذُنُوبِهِمْ ۗdhunūbihim(of) their sins
29. وَإِنَّwa-innaAnd indeed
30. كَثِيرًۭاkathīranmany
31. مِّنَminaof
32. ٱلنَّاسِl-nāsithe people
33. لَفَـٰسِقُونَlafāsiqūna(are) defiantly disobedient

أَفَحُكْمَ ٱلْجَـٰهِلِيَّةِ يَبْغُونَ ۚ وَمَنْ أَحْسَنُ مِنَ ٱللَّهِ حُكْمًا لِّقَوْمٍ يُوقِنُونَ

Transliteration afaḥuk'ma l-jāhiliyati yabghūna waman aḥsanu mina l-lahi ḥuk'man liqawmin yūqinūna

English Then is it the judgement of [the time of] ignorance they desire? But who is better than Allāh in judgement for a people who are certain [in faith].

1. أَفَحُكْمَafaḥuk'maIs it then the judgment
2. ٱلْجَـٰهِلِيَّةِl-jāhiliyati(of the time of) ignorance
3. يَبْغُونَ ۚyabghūnathey seek
4. وَمَنْwamanAnd who (is)
5. أَحْسَنُaḥsanubetter
6. مِنَminathan
7. ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
8. حُكْمًۭاḥuk'man(in) judgment
9. لِّقَوْمٍۢliqawminfor a people
10. يُوقِنُونَyūqinūna(who) firmly believe

۞ يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا تَتَّخِذُوا۟ ٱلْيَهُودَ وَٱلنَّصَـٰرَىٰٓ أَوْلِيَآءَ ۘ بَعْضُهُمْ أَوْلِيَآءُ بَعْضٍ ۚ وَمَن يَتَوَلَّهُم مِّنكُمْ فَإِنَّهُۥ مِنْهُمْ ۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يَهْدِى ٱلْقَوْمَ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ

Transliteration yāayyuhā alladhīna āmanū lā tattakhidhū l-yahūda wal-naṣārā awliyāa baʿḍuhum awliyāu baʿḍin waman yatawallahum minkum fa-innahu min'hum inna l-laha lā yahdī l-qawma l-ẓālimīna

English O you who have believed, do not take the Jews and the Christians as allies. They are [in fact] allies of one another. And whoever is an ally to them among you - then indeed, he is [one] of them. Indeed, Allāh guides not the wrongdoing people.

1. ۞ يَـٰٓأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO you
2. ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnawho
3. ءَامَنُوا۟āmanūbelieve
4. لَاlā(Do) not
5. تَتَّخِذُوا۟tattakhidhūtake
6. ٱلْيَهُودَl-yahūdathe Jews
7. وَٱلنَّصَـٰرَىٰٓwal-naṣārāand the Christians
8. أَوْلِيَآءَ ۘawliyāa(as) allies
9. بَعْضُهُمْbaʿḍuhumSome of them
10. أَوْلِيَآءُawliyāu(are) allies
11. بَعْضٍۢ ۚbaʿḍin(to) others
12. وَمَنwamanAnd whoever
13. يَتَوَلَّهُمyatawallahumtakes them as allies
14. مِّنكُمْminkumamong you
15. فَإِنَّهُۥfa-innahuthen indeed, he
16. مِنْهُمْ ۗmin'hum(is) of them
17. إِنَّinnaIndeed
18. ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
19. لَاlā(does) not
20. يَهْدِىyahdīguide
21. ٱلْقَوْمَl-qawmathe people
22. ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَl-ẓālimīnathe wrongdoing

فَتَرَى ٱلَّذِينَ فِى قُلُوبِهِم مَّرَضٌ يُسَـٰرِعُونَ فِيهِمْ يَقُولُونَ نَخْشَىٰٓ أَن تُصِيبَنَا دَآئِرَةٌ ۚ فَعَسَى ٱللَّهُ أَن يَأْتِىَ بِٱلْفَتْحِ أَوْ أَمْرٍ مِّنْ عِندِهِۦ فَيُصْبِحُوا۟ عَلَىٰ مَآ أَسَرُّوا۟ فِىٓ أَنفُسِهِمْ نَـٰدِمِينَ

Transliteration fatarā alladhīna fī qulūbihim maraḍun yusāriʿūna fīhim yaqūlūna nakhshā an tuṣībanā dāiratun faʿasā l-lahu an yatiya bil-fatḥi aw amrin min ʿindihi fayuṣ'biḥū ʿalā mā asarrū fī anfusihim nādimīna

English So you see those in whose hearts is disease [i.e., hypocrisy] hastening into [association with] them, saying, "We are afraid a misfortune may strike us." But perhaps Allāh will bring conquest or a decision from Him, and they will become, over what they have been concealing within themselves, regretful.

1. فَتَرَىfatarāAnd you see
2. ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose
3. فِىfīin
4. قُلُوبِهِمqulūbihimtheir hearts
5. مَّرَضٌۭmaraḍun(is) a disease
6. يُسَـٰرِعُونَyusāriʿūnathey hasten
7. فِيهِمْfīhimto them
8. يَقُولُونَyaqūlūnasaying
9. نَخْشَىٰٓnakhshāWe fear
10. أَنanthat
11. تُصِيبَنَاtuṣībanā(may) strike us
12. دَآئِرَ ةٌۭ ۚdāiratuna misfortune
13. فَعَسَىfaʿasāBut perhaps
14. ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah
15. أَنan[that]
16. يَأْتِىَyatiyawill bring
17. بِٱلْفَتْحِbil-fatḥithe victory
18. أَوْawor
19. أَمْرٍۢamrina decision
20. مِّنْminfrom
21. عِندِهِۦʿindihi(of) Him
22. فَيُصْبِحُوا۟fayuṣ'biḥūThen they will become
23. عَلَىٰʿalāfor
24. مَآmāwhat
25. أَسَرُّوا۟asarrūthey had concealed
26. فِىٓfīwithin
27. أَنفُسِهِمْanfusihimthemselves
28. نَـٰدِمِينَnādimīnaregretful

وَيَقُولُ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ أَهَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ ٱلَّذِينَ أَقْسَمُوا۟ بِٱللَّهِ جَهْدَ أَيْمَـٰنِهِمْ ۙ إِنَّهُمْ لَمَعَكُمْ ۚ حَبِطَتْ أَعْمَـٰلُهُمْ فَأَصْبَحُوا۟ خَـٰسِرِينَ

Transliteration wayaqūlu alladhīna āmanū ahāulāi alladhīna aqsamū bil-lahi jahda aymānihim innahum lamaʿakum ḥabiṭat aʿmāluhum fa-aṣbaḥū khāsirīna

English And those who believe will say, "Are these the ones who swore by Allāh their strongest oaths that indeed they were with you?" Their deeds have become worthless, and they have become losers.

1. وَيَقُولُwayaqūluAnd will say
2. ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
3. ءَامَنُوٓا۟āmanūbelieve
4. أَهَـٰٓؤُلَآءِahāulāiAre these
5. ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
6. أَقْسَمُوا۟aqsamūswore
7. بِٱللَّهِbil-lahiby Allah
8. جَهْدَjahdastrongest
9. أَيْمَـٰنِهِمْ ۙaymānihim(of) their oaths
10. إِنَّهُمْinnahumindeed, they
11. لَمَعَكُمْ ۚlamaʿakum(were) with you
12. حَبِطَتْḥabiṭatBecame worthless
13. أَعْمَـٰلُهُمْaʿmāluhumtheir deeds
14. فَأَصْبَحُوا۟fa-aṣbaḥūand they became
15. خَـٰسِرِينَkhāsirīna(the) losers

يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ مَن يَرْتَدَّ مِنكُمْ عَن دِينِهِۦ فَسَوْفَ يَأْتِى ٱللَّهُ بِقَوْمٍ يُحِبُّهُمْ وَيُحِبُّونَهُۥٓ أَذِلَّةٍ عَلَى ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ أَعِزَّةٍ عَلَى ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ يُجَـٰهِدُونَ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ وَلَا يَخَافُونَ لَوْمَةَ لَآئِمٍ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ فَضْلُ ٱللَّهِ يُؤْتِيهِ مَن يَشَآءُ ۚ وَٱللَّهُ وَٰسِعٌ عَلِيمٌ

Transliteration yāayyuhā alladhīna āmanū man yartadda minkum ʿan dīnihi fasawfa yatī l-lahu biqawmin yuḥibbuhum wayuḥibbūnahu adhillatin ʿalā l-mu'minīna aʿizzatin ʿalā l-kāfirīna yujāhidūna fī sabīli l-lahi walā yakhāfūna lawmata lāimin dhālika faḍlu l-lahi yu'tīhi man yashāu wal-lahu wāsiʿun ʿalīmun

English O you who have believed, whoever of you should revert from his religion - Allāh will bring forth [in place of them] a people He will love and who will love Him [who are] humble toward the believers, strong against the disbelievers; they strive in the cause of Allāh and do not fear the blame of a critic. That is the favor of Allāh; He bestows it upon whom He wills. And Allāh is all-Encompassing and Knowing.

1. يَـٰٓأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO you
2. ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnawho
3. ءَامَنُوا۟āmanūbelieve
4. مَنmanWhoever
5. يَرْتَدَّyartaddaturns back
6. مِنكُمْminkumamong you
7. عَنʿanfrom
8. دِينِهِۦdīnihihis religion
9. فَسَوْفَfasawfathen soon
10. يَأْتِىyatī(will be) brought
11. ٱللَّهُl-lahu(by) Allah
12. بِقَوْمٍۢbiqawmina people
13. يُحِبُّهُمْyuḥibbuhumwhom He loves
14. وَيُحِبُّونَهُۥٓwayuḥibbūnahuand they love Him
15. أَذِلَّةٍadhillatinhumble
16. عَلَىʿalātowards
17. ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَl-mu'minīnathe believers
18. أَعِزَّةٍaʿizzatin(and) stern
19. عَلَىʿalātowards
20. ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَl-kāfirīnathe disbelievers
21. يُجَـٰهِدُونَyujāhidūnastriving
22. فِىfīin
23. سَبِيلِsabīli(the) way
24. ٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allah
25. وَلَاwalāand not
26. يَخَافُونَyakhāfūnafearing
27. لَوْمَةَlawmatathe blame
28. لَآئِمٍۢ ۚlāimin(of) a critic
29. ذَٰلِكَdhālikaThat
30. فَضْلُfaḍlu(is the) Grace
31. ٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allah
32. يُؤْتِيهِyu'tīhiHe grants
33. مَنmanwhom
34. يَشَآءُ ۚyashāuHe wills
35. وَٱللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allah
36. وَٰسِعٌwāsiʿun(is) All-Encompassing
37. عَلِيمٌʿalīmunAll-Knowing

إِنَّمَا وَلِيُّكُمُ ٱللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُۥ وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ ٱلَّذِينَ يُقِيمُونَ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَيُؤْتُونَ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ وَهُمْ رَٰكِعُونَ

Transliteration innamā waliyyukumu l-lahu warasūluhu wa-alladhīna āmanū alladhīna yuqīmūna l-ṣalata wayu'tūna l-zakata wahum rākiʿūna

English Your ally is none but Allāh and [therefore] His Messenger and those who have believed - those who establish prayer and give zakāh, and they bow [in worship].

1. إِنَّمَاinnamāOnly
2. وَلِيُّكُمُwaliyyukumuyour ally
3. ٱللَّهُl-lahu(is) Allah
4. وَرَسُولُهُۥwarasūluhuand His Messenger
5. وَٱلَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaand those who
6. ءَامَنُوا۟āmanūbelieve
7. ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnaand those who
8. يُقِيمُونَyuqīmūnaestablish
9. ٱلصَّلَوٰةَl-ṣalatathe prayer
10. وَيُؤْتُونَwayu'tūnaand give
11. ٱلزَّكَوٰةَl-zakatazakah
12. وَهُمْwahumand they
13. رَٰكِعُونَrākiʿūna(are) those who bow down

وَمَن يَتَوَلَّ ٱللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ فَإِنَّ حِزْبَ ٱللَّهِ هُمُ ٱلْغَـٰلِبُونَ

Transliteration waman yatawalla l-laha warasūlahu wa-alladhīna āmanū fa-inna ḥiz'ba l-lahi humu l-ghālibūna

English And whoever is an ally of Allāh and His Messenger and those who have believed - indeed, the party of Allāh - they will be the predominant.

1. وَمَنwamanAnd whoever
2. يَتَوَلَّyatawallatakes as an ally
3. ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
4. وَرَسُولَهُۥwarasūlahuand His Messenger
5. وَٱلَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaand those who
6. ءَامَنُوا۟āmanūbelieve
7. فَإِنَّfa-innathen indeed
8. حِزْبَḥiz'ba(the) party
9. ٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allah
10. هُمُhumuthey
11. ٱلْغَـٰلِبُونَl-ghālibūna(are) the victorious

يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا تَتَّخِذُوا۟ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱتَّخَذُوا۟ دِينَكُمْ هُزُوًا وَلَعِبًا مِّنَ ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُوا۟ ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ مِن قَبْلِكُمْ وَٱلْكُفَّارَ أَوْلِيَآءَ ۚ وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ إِن كُنتُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ

Transliteration yāayyuhā alladhīna āmanū lā tattakhidhū alladhīna ittakhadhū dīnakum huzuwan walaʿiban mina alladhīna ūtū l-kitāba min qablikum wal-kufāra awliyāa wa-ittaqū l-laha in kuntum mu'minīna

English O you who have believed, take not those who have taken your religion in ridicule and amusement among the ones who were given the Scripture before you nor the disbelievers as allies. And fear Allāh, if you should [truly] be believers.

1. يَـٰٓأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO you
2. ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnawho
3. ءَامَنُوا۟āmanūbelieve
4. لَاlā(Do) not
5. تَتَّخِذُوا۟tattakhidhūtake
6. ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
7. ٱتَّخَذُوا۟ittakhadhūtake
8. دِينَكُمْdīnakumyour religion
9. هُزُوًۭاhuzuwan(in) ridicule
10. وَلَعِبًۭاwalaʿibanand fun
11. مِّنَminafrom
12. ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
13. أُوتُوا۟ūtūare given
14. ٱلْكِتَـٰبَl-kitābathe Book
15. مِنminfrom
16. قَبْلِكُمْqablikumbefore you
17. وَٱلْكُفَّارَwal-kufāraand the disbelievers
18. أَوْلِيَآءَ ۚawliyāa(as) allies
19. وَٱتَّقُوا۟wa-ittaqūAnd fear
20. ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
21. إِنinif
22. كُنتُمkuntumyou are
23. مُّؤْمِنِينَmu'minīnabelievers

وَإِذَا نَادَيْتُمْ إِلَى ٱلصَّلَوٰةِ ٱتَّخَذُوهَا هُزُوًا وَلَعِبًا ۚ ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ قَوْمٌ لَّا يَعْقِلُونَ

Transliteration wa-idhā nādaytum ilā l-ṣalati ittakhadhūhā huzuwan walaʿiban dhālika bi-annahum qawmun lā yaʿqilūna

English And when you call to prayer, they take it in ridicule and amusement. That is because they are a people who do not use reason.

1. وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd when
2. نَادَيْتُمْnādaytumyou make a call
3. إِلَىilāfor
4. ٱلصَّلَوٰةِl-ṣalatithe prayer
5. ٱتَّخَذُوهَاittakhadhūhāthey take it
6. هُزُوًۭاhuzuwan(in) ridicule
7. وَلَعِبًۭا ۚwalaʿibanand fun
8. ذَٰلِكَdhālikaThat
9. بِأَنَّهُمْbi-annahum(is) because they
10. قَوْمٌۭqawmun(are) a people
11. لَّاlā(who do) not
12. يَعْقِلُونَyaʿqilūnaunderstand

قُلْ يَـٰٓأَهْلَ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ هَلْ تَنقِمُونَ مِنَّآ إِلَّآ أَنْ ءَامَنَّا بِٱللَّهِ وَمَآ أُنزِلَ إِلَيْنَا وَمَآ أُنزِلَ مِن قَبْلُ وَأَنَّ أَكْثَرَكُمْ فَـٰسِقُونَ

Transliteration qul yāahla l-kitābi hal tanqimūna minnā illā an āmannā bil-lahi wamā unzila ilaynā wamā unzila min qablu wa-anna aktharakum fāsiqūna

English Say, "O People of the Scripture, do you resent us except [for the fact] that we have believed in Allāh and what was revealed to us and what was revealed before and because most of you are defiantly disobedient?"

1. قُلْqulSay
2. يَـٰٓأَهْلَyāahlaO People
3. ٱلْكِتَـٰبِl-kitābi(of) the Book
4. هَلْhalDo
5. تَنقِمُونَtanqimūnayou resent
6. مِنَّآminnā[of] us
7. إِلَّآillāexcept
8. أَنْanthat
9. ءَامَنَّاāmannāwe believe
10. بِٱللَّهِbil-lahiin Allah
11. وَمَآwamāand what
12. أُنزِلَunzilahas been revealed
13. إِلَيْنَاilaynāto us
14. وَمَآwamāand what
15. أُنزِلَunzilawas revealed
16. مِنminfrom
17. قَبْلُqablubefore
18. وَأَنَّwa-annaand that
19. أَكْثَرَكُمْaktharakummost of you
20. فَـٰسِقُونَfāsiqūna(are) defiantly disobedient

قُلْ هَلْ أُنَبِّئُكُم بِشَرٍّ مِّن ذَٰلِكَ مَثُوبَةً عِندَ ٱللَّهِ ۚ مَن لَّعَنَهُ ٱللَّهُ وَغَضِبَ عَلَيْهِ وَجَعَلَ مِنْهُمُ ٱلْقِرَدَةَ وَٱلْخَنَازِيرَ وَعَبَدَ ٱلطَّـٰغُوتَ ۚ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ شَرٌّ مَّكَانًا وَأَضَلُّ عَن سَوَآءِ ٱلسَّبِيلِ

Transliteration qul hal unabbi-ukum bisharrin min dhālika mathūbatan ʿinda l-lahi man laʿanahu l-lahu waghaḍiba ʿalayhi wajaʿala min'humu l-qiradata wal-khanāzīra waʿabada l-ṭāghūta ulāika sharrun makānan wa-aḍallu ʿan sawāi l-sabīli

English Say, "Shall I inform you of [what is] worse than that as penalty from Allāh? [It is that of] those whom Allāh has cursed and with whom He became angry and made of them apes and pigs and slaves of ṭāghūt. Those are worse in position and further astray from the sound way."

1. قُلْqulSay
2. هَلْhalShall
3. أُنَبِّئُكُمunabbi-ukumI inform you
4. بِشَرٍّۢbisharrin(of) worse
5. مِّنminthan
6. ذَٰلِكَdhālikathat
7. مَثُوبَةًmathūbatan(as) recompense
8. عِندَʿindafrom
9. ٱللَّهِ ۚl-lahiAllah
10. مَنmanWhom
11. لَّعَنَهُlaʿanahuhas (been) cursed
12. ٱللَّهُl-lahu(by) Allah
13. وَغَضِبَwaghaḍibaand He became angry
14. عَلَيْهِʿalayhiwith him
15. وَجَعَلَwajaʿalaand made
16. مِنْهُمُmin'humuof them
17. ٱلْقِرَدَةَl-qiradata[the] apes
18. وَٱلْخَنَازِيرَwal-khanāzīraand [the] swines
19. وَعَبَدَwaʿabadaand (who) worshipped
20. ٱلطَّـٰغُوتَ ۚl-ṭāghūtathe false deities
21. أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَulāikaThose
22. شَرٌّۭsharrun(are) worse
23. مَّكَانًۭاmakānan(in) position
24. وَأَضَلُّwa-aḍalluand farthest astray
25. عَنʿanfrom
26. سَوَآءِsawāi(the) even
27. ٱلسَّبِيلِl-sabīliway

وَإِذَا جَآءُوكُمْ قَالُوٓا۟ ءَامَنَّا وَقَد دَّخَلُوا۟ بِٱلْكُفْرِ وَهُمْ قَدْ خَرَجُوا۟ بِهِۦ ۚ وَٱللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَكْتُمُونَ

Transliteration wa-idhā jāūkum qālū āmannā waqad dakhalū bil-kuf'ri wahum qad kharajū bihi wal-lahu aʿlamu bimā kānū yaktumūna

English And when they come to you, they say, "We believe." But they have entered with disbelief [in their hearts], and they have certainly left with it. And Allāh is most knowing of what they were concealing.

1. وَإِذَاwa-idhāAnd when
2. جَآءُوكُمْjāūkumthey come to you
3. قَالُوٓا۟qālūthey say
4. ءَامَنَّاāmannāWe believe
5. وَقَدwaqadBut certainly
6. دَّخَلُوا۟dakhalūthey entered
7. بِٱلْكُفْرِbil-kuf'riwith disbelief
8. وَهُمْwahumand they
9. قَدْqadcertainly
10. خَرَجُوا۟kharajūwent out
11. بِهِۦ ۚbihiwith it
12. وَٱللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allah
13. أَعْلَمُaʿlamuknows best
14. بِمَاbimā[of] what
15. كَانُوا۟kānūthey were
16. يَكْتُمُونَyaktumūnahiding

وَتَرَىٰ كَثِيرًا مِّنْهُمْ يُسَـٰرِعُونَ فِى ٱلْإِثْمِ وَٱلْعُدْوَٰنِ وَأَكْلِهِمُ ٱلسُّحْتَ ۚ لَبِئْسَ مَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ

Transliteration watarā kathīran min'hum yusāriʿūna fī l-ith'mi wal-ʿud'wāni wa-aklihimu l-suḥ'ta labi'sa mā kānū yaʿmalūna

English And you see many of them hastening into sin and aggression and the devouring of [what is] unlawful. How wretched is what they have been doing.

1. وَتَرَىٰwatarāAnd you see
2. كَثِيرًۭاkathīranmany
3. مِّنْهُمْmin'humof them
4. يُسَـٰرِعُونَyusāriʿūnahastening
5. فِىfīinto
6. ٱلْإِثْمِl-ith'mi[the] sin
7. وَٱلْعُدْوَٰنِwal-ʿud'wāniand [the] transgression
8. وَأَكْلِهِمُwa-aklihimuand eating
9. ٱلسُّحْتَ ۚl-suḥ'tathe forbidden
10. لَبِئْسَlabi'saSurely evil
11. مَاmā(is) what
12. كَانُوا۟kānūthey were
13. يَعْمَلُونَyaʿmalūnadoing

لَوْلَا يَنْهَىٰهُمُ ٱلرَّبَّـٰنِيُّونَ وَٱلْأَحْبَارُ عَن قَوْلِهِمُ ٱلْإِثْمَ وَأَكْلِهِمُ ٱلسُّحْتَ ۚ لَبِئْسَ مَا كَانُوا۟ يَصْنَعُونَ

Transliteration lawlā yanhāhumu l-rabāniyūna wal-aḥbāru ʿan qawlihimu l-ith'ma wa-aklihimu l-suḥ'ta labi'sa mā kānū yaṣnaʿūna

English Why do the rabbis and religious scholars not forbid them from saying what is sinful and devouring what is unlawful? How wretched is what they have been practicing.

1. لَوْلَاlawlāWhy (do) not
2. يَنْهَىٰهُمُyanhāhumuforbid them
3. ٱلرَّبَّـٰنِيُّونَl-rabāniyūnathe Rabbis
4. وَٱلْأَحْبَارُwal-aḥbāruand the religious scholars
5. عَنʿanfrom
6. قَوْلِهِمُqawlihimutheir saying
7. ٱلْإِثْمَl-ith'mathe sinful
8. وَأَكْلِهِمُwa-aklihimuand their eating
9. ٱلسُّحْتَ ۚl-suḥ'ta(of) the forbidden
10. لَبِئْسَlabi'saSurely, evil
11. مَاmā(is) what
12. كَانُوا۟kānūthey used to
13. يَصْنَعُونَyaṣnaʿūnado

وَقَالَتِ ٱلْيَهُودُ يَدُ ٱللَّهِ مَغْلُولَةٌ ۚ غُلَّتْ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَلُعِنُوا۟ بِمَا قَالُوا۟ ۘ بَلْ يَدَاهُ مَبْسُوطَتَانِ يُنفِقُ كَيْفَ يَشَآءُ ۚ وَلَيَزِيدَنَّ كَثِيرًا مِّنْهُم مَّآ أُنزِلَ إِلَيْكَ مِن رَّبِّكَ طُغْيَـٰنًا وَكُفْرًا ۚ وَأَلْقَيْنَا بَيْنَهُمُ ٱلْعَدَٰوَةَ وَٱلْبَغْضَآءَ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ ۚ كُلَّمَآ أَوْقَدُوا۟ نَارًا لِّلْحَرْبِ أَطْفَأَهَا ٱللَّهُ ۚ وَيَسْعَوْنَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ فَسَادًا ۚ وَٱللَّهُ لَا يُحِبُّ ٱلْمُفْسِدِينَ

Transliteration waqālati l-yahūdu yadu l-lahi maghlūlatun ghullat aydīhim waluʿinū bimā qālū bal yadāhu mabsūṭatāni yunfiqu kayfa yashāu walayazīdanna kathīran min'hum mā unzila ilayka min rabbika ṭugh'yānan wakuf'ran wa-alqaynā baynahumu l-ʿadāwata wal-baghḍāa ilā yawmi l-qiyāmati kullamā awqadū nāran lil'ḥarbi aṭfa-ahā l-lahu wayasʿawna fī l-arḍi fasādan wal-lahu lā yuḥibbu l-muf'sidīna

English And the Jews say, "The hand of Allāh is chained." Chained are their hands, and cursed are they for what they say. Rather, both His hands are extended; He spends however He wills. And that which has been revealed to you from your Lord will surely increase many of them in transgression and disbelief. And We have cast among them animosity and hatred until the Day of Resurrection. Every time they kindled the fire of war [against you], Allāh extinguished it. And they strive throughout the land [causing] corruption, and Allāh does not like corrupters.

1. وَقَالَتِwaqālatiAnd said
2. ٱلْيَهُودُl-yahūduthe Jews
3. يَدُyaduThe Hand
4. ٱللَّهِl-lahi(of) Allah
5. مَغْلُولَةٌ ۚmaghlūlatun(is) chained
6. غُلَّتْghullatAre chained
7. أَيْدِيهِمْaydīhimtheir hands
8. وَلُعِنُوا۟waluʿinūand they have been cursed
9. بِمَاbimāfor what
10. قَالُوا۟ ۘqālūthey said
11. بَلْbalNay
12. يَدَاهُyadāhuHis Hands
13. مَبْسُوطَتَانِmabsūṭatāni(are) stretched out
14. يُنفِقُyunfiquHe spends
15. كَيْفَkayfahow
16. يَشَآءُ ۚyashāuHe wills
17. وَلَيَزِيدَنَّwalayazīdannaAnd surely increase
18. كَثِيرًۭاkathīranmany
19. مِّنْهُمmin'humof them
20. مَّآmāwhat
21. أُنزِلَunzilahas been revealed
22. إِلَيْكَilaykato you
23. مِنminfrom
24. رَّبِّكَrabbikayour Lord
25. طُغْيَـٰنًۭاṭugh'yānan(in) rebellion
26. وَكُفْرًۭا ۚwakuf'ranand disbelief
27. وَأَلْقَيْنَاwa-alqaynāAnd We have cast
28. بَيْنَهُمُbaynahumuamong them
29. ٱلْعَدَٰوَةَl-ʿadāwata[the] enmity
30. وَٱلْبَغْضَآءَwal-baghḍāaand [the] hatred
31. إِلَىٰilātill
32. يَوْمِyawmi(the) Day
33. ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ ۚl-qiyāmati(of) the Resurrection
34. كُلَّمَآkullamāEvery time
35. أَوْقَدُوا۟awqadūthey kindled
36. نَارًۭاnāran(the) fire
37. لِّلْحَرْبِlil'ḥarbiof [the] war
38. أَطْفَأَهَاaṭfa-ahāit (was) extinguished
39. ٱللَّهُ ۚl-lahu(by) Allah
40. وَيَسْعَوْنَwayasʿawnaAnd they strive
41. فِىfīin
42. ٱلْأَرْضِl-arḍithe earth
43. فَسَادًۭا ۚfasādanspreading corruption
44. وَٱللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allah
45. لَاlā(does) not
46. يُحِبُّyuḥibbulove
47. ٱلْمُفْسِدِينَl-muf'sidīnathe corrupters

وَلَوْ أَنَّ أَهْلَ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَٱتَّقَوْا۟ لَكَفَّرْنَا عَنْهُمْ سَيِّـَٔاتِهِمْ وَلَأَدْخَلْنَـٰهُمْ جَنَّـٰتِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ

Transliteration walaw anna ahla l-kitābi āmanū wa-ittaqaw lakaffarnā ʿanhum sayyiātihim wala-adkhalnāhum jannāti l-naʿīmi

English And if only the People of the Scripture had believed and feared Allāh, We would have removed from them their misdeeds and admitted them to Gardens of Pleasure.

1. وَلَوْwalawAnd if
2. أَنَّannathat
3. أَهْلَahla(the) People
4. ٱلْكِتَـٰبِl-kitābi(of) the Book
5. ءَامَنُوا۟āmanū(had) believed
6. وَٱتَّقَوْا۟wa-ittaqawand feared (Allah)
7. لَكَفَّرْنَاlakaffarnāsurely We (would have) removed
8. عَنْهُمْʿanhumfrom them
9. سَيِّـَٔاتِهِمْsayyiātihimtheir evil (deeds)
10. وَلَأَدْخَلْنَـٰهُمْwala-adkhalnāhumand surely We (would have) admitted them
11. جَنَّـٰتِjannāti(to) Gardens
12. ٱلنَّعِيمِl-naʿīmi(of) Bliss

وَلَوْ أَنَّهُمْ أَقَامُوا۟ ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةَ وَٱلْإِنجِيلَ وَمَآ أُنزِلَ إِلَيْهِم مِّن رَّبِّهِمْ لَأَكَلُوا۟ مِن فَوْقِهِمْ وَمِن تَحْتِ أَرْجُلِهِم ۚ مِّنْهُمْ أُمَّةٌ مُّقْتَصِدَةٌ ۖ وَكَثِيرٌ مِّنْهُمْ سَآءَ مَا يَعْمَلُونَ

Transliteration walaw annahum aqāmū l-tawrāta wal-injīla wamā unzila ilayhim min rabbihim la-akalū min fawqihim wamin taḥti arjulihim min'hum ummatun muq'taṣidatun wakathīrun min'hum sāa mā yaʿmalūna

English And if only they had upheld [the law of] the Torah, the Gospel, and what has been revealed to them from their Lord [i.e., the Qur’ān], they would have consumed [provision] from above them and from beneath their feet. Among them are a moderate [i.e., acceptable] community, but many of them - evil is that which they do.

1. وَلَوْwalawAnd if
2. أَنَّهُمْannahumthat they
3. أَقَامُوا۟aqāmūhad stood firmly
4. ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةَl-tawrāta(by) the Taurat
5. وَٱلْإِنجِيلَwal-injīlaand the Injeel
6. وَمَآwamāand what
7. أُنزِلَunzilawas revealed
8. إِلَيْهِمilayhimto them
9. مِّنminfrom
10. رَّبِّهِمْrabbihimtheir Lord
11. لَأَكَلُوا۟la-akalūsurely they (would have) eaten
12. مِنminfrom
13. فَوْقِهِمْfawqihimabove them
14. وَمِنwaminand from
15. تَحْتِtaḥtibeneath
16. أَرْجُلِهِم ۚarjulihimtheir feet
17. مِّنْهُمْmin'humAmong them
18. أُمَّةٌۭummatun(is) a community
19. مُّقْتَصِدَةٌۭ ۖmuq'taṣidatunmoderate
20. وَكَثِيرٌۭwakathīrunbut many
21. مِّنْهُمْmin'humof them
22. سَآءَsāaevil
23. مَاmā(is) what
24. يَعْمَلُونَyaʿmalūnathey do

۞ يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلرَّسُولُ بَلِّغْ مَآ أُنزِلَ إِلَيْكَ مِن رَّبِّكَ ۖ وَإِن لَّمْ تَفْعَلْ فَمَا بَلَّغْتَ رِسَالَتَهُۥ ۚ وَٱللَّهُ يَعْصِمُكَ مِنَ ٱلنَّاسِ ۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يَهْدِى ٱلْقَوْمَ ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ

Transliteration yāayyuhā l-rasūlu balligh mā unzila ilayka min rabbika wa-in lam tafʿal famā ballaghta risālatahu wal-lahu yaʿṣimuka mina l-nāsi inna l-laha lā yahdī l-qawma l-kāfirīna

English O Messenger, announce that which has been revealed to you from your Lord, and if you do not, then you have not conveyed His message. And Allāh will protect you from the people. Indeed, Allāh does not guide the disbelieving people.

1. ۞ يَـٰٓأَيُّهَاyāayyuhāO
2. ٱلرَّسُولُl-rasūluMessenger
3. بَلِّغْballighConvey
4. مَآmāwhat
5. أُنزِلَunzilahas been revealed
6. إِلَيْكَilaykato you
7. مِنminfrom
8. رَّبِّكَ ۖrabbikayour Lord
9. وَإِنwa-inand if
10. لَّمْlamnot
11. تَفْعَلْtafʿalyou do
12. فَمَاfamāthen not
13. بَلَّغْتَballaghtayou (have) conveyed
14. رِسَالَتَهُۥ ۚrisālatahuHis Message
15. وَٱللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allah
16. يَعْصِمُكَyaʿṣimukawill protect you
17. مِنَminafrom
18. ٱلنَّاسِ ۗl-nāsithe people
19. إِنَّinnaIndeed
20. ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
21. لَاlā(does) not
22. يَهْدِىyahdīguide
23. ٱلْقَوْمَl-qawmathe people
24. ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَl-kāfirīnathe disbelieving

قُلْ يَـٰٓأَهْلَ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ لَسْتُمْ عَلَىٰ شَىْءٍ حَتَّىٰ تُقِيمُوا۟ ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةَ وَٱلْإِنجِيلَ وَمَآ أُنزِلَ إِلَيْكُم مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ ۗ وَلَيَزِيدَنَّ كَثِيرًا مِّنْهُم مَّآ أُنزِلَ إِلَيْكَ مِن رَّبِّكَ طُغْيَـٰنًا وَكُفْرًا ۖ فَلَا تَأْسَ عَلَى ٱلْقَوْمِ ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ

Transliteration qul yāahla l-kitābi lastum ʿalā shayin ḥattā tuqīmū l-tawrāta wal-injīla wamā unzila ilaykum min rabbikum walayazīdanna kathīran min'hum mā unzila ilayka min rabbika ṭugh'yānan wakuf'ran falā tasa ʿalā l-qawmi l-kāfirīna

English Say, "O People of the Scripture, you are [standing] on nothing until you uphold [the law of] the Torah, the Gospel, and what has been revealed to you from your Lord [i.e., the Qur’ān]." And that which has been revealed to you from your Lord will surely increase many of them in transgression and disbelief. So do not grieve over the disbelieving people.

1. قُلْqulSay
2. يَـٰٓأَهْلَyāahlaO People
3. ٱلْكِتَـٰبِl-kitābi(of) the Book
4. لَسْتُمْlastumYou are not
5. عَلَىٰʿalāon
6. شَىْءٍshayinanything
7. حَتَّىٰḥattāuntil
8. تُقِيمُوا۟tuqīmūyou stand firmly
9. ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةَl-tawrāta(by) the Taurat
10. وَٱلْإِنجِيلَwal-injīlaand the Injeel
11. وَمَآwamāand what
12. أُنزِلَunzilahas been revealed
13. إِلَيْكُمilaykumto you
14. مِّنminfrom
15. رَّبِّكُمْ ۗrabbikumyour Lord
16. وَلَيَزِيدَنَّwalayazīdannaAnd surely increase
17. كَثِيرًۭاkathīranmany
18. مِّنْهُمmin'humof them
19. مَّآmāwhat
20. أُنزِلَunzilahas been revealed
21. إِلَيْكَilaykato you
22. مِنminfrom
23. رَّبِّكَrabbikayour Lord
24. طُغْيَـٰنًۭاṭugh'yānan(in) rebellion
25. وَكُفْرًۭا ۖwakuf'ranand disbelief
26. فَلَاfalāSo (do) not
27. تَأْسَtasagrieve
28. عَلَىʿalāover
29. ٱلْقَوْمِl-qawmithe people
30. ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَl-kāfirīnathe disbelieving

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَٱلَّذِينَ هَادُوا۟ وَٱلصَّـٰبِـُٔونَ وَٱلنَّصَـٰرَىٰ مَنْ ءَامَنَ بِٱللَّهِ وَٱلْيَوْمِ ٱلْـَٔاخِرِ وَعَمِلَ صَـٰلِحًا فَلَا خَوْفٌ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا هُمْ يَحْزَنُونَ

Transliteration inna alladhīna āmanū wa-alladhīna hādū wal-ṣābiūna wal-naṣārā man āmana bil-lahi wal-yawmi l-ākhiri waʿamila ṣāliḥan falā khawfun ʿalayhim walā hum yaḥzanūna

English Indeed, those who have believed [in Prophet Muḥammad (ﷺ)] and those [before him (ﷺ)] who were Jews or Sabeans or Christians - those [among them] who believed in Allāh and the Last Day and did righteousness - no fear will there be concerning them, nor will they grieve.

1. إِنَّinnaIndeed
2. ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
3. ءَامَنُوا۟āmanūbelieved
4. وَٱلَّذِينَwa-alladhīnaand those who
5. هَادُوا۟hādūbecame Jews
6. وَٱلصَّـٰبِـُٔونَwal-ṣābiūnaand the Sabians
7. وَٱلنَّصَـٰرَىٰwal-naṣārāand the Christians
8. مَنْmanwhoever
9. ءَامَنَāmanabelieved
10. بِٱللَّهِbil-lahiin Allah
11. وَٱلْيَوْمِwal-yawmiand the Day
12. ٱلْـَٔاخِرِl-ākhirithe Last
13. وَعَمِلَwaʿamilaand did
14. صَـٰلِحًۭاṣāliḥangood deeds
15. فَلَاfalāthen no
16. خَوْفٌkhawfunfear
17. عَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimon them
18. وَلَاwalāand not
19. هُمْhumthey
20. يَحْزَنُونَyaḥzanūnawill grieve

لَقَدْ أَخَذْنَا مِيثَـٰقَ بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ وَأَرْسَلْنَآ إِلَيْهِمْ رُسُلًا ۖ كُلَّمَا جَآءَهُمْ رَسُولٌۢ بِمَا لَا تَهْوَىٰٓ أَنفُسُهُمْ فَرِيقًا كَذَّبُوا۟ وَفَرِيقًا يَقْتُلُونَ

Transliteration laqad akhadhnā mīthāqa banī is'rāīla wa-arsalnā ilayhim rusulan kullamā jāahum rasūlun bimā lā tahwā anfusuhum farīqan kadhabū wafarīqan yaqtulūna

English We had already taken the covenant of the Children of Israel and had sent to them messengers. Whenever there came to them a messenger with what their souls did not desire, a party [of messengers] they denied, and another party they killed.

1. لَقَدْlaqadCertainly
2. أَخَذْنَاakhadhnāWe took
3. مِيثَـٰقَmīthāqaa Covenant
4. بَنِىٓbanī(from the) Children
5. إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَis'rāīla(of) Israel
6. وَأَرْسَلْنَآwa-arsalnāand We sent
7. إِلَيْهِمْilayhimto them
8. رُسُلًۭا ۖrusulanMessengers
9. كُلَّمَاkullamāWhenever
10. جَآءَهُمْjāahumcame to them
11. رَسُولٌۢrasūlunany Messenger
12. بِمَاbimāwith what
13. لَاlānot
14. تَهْوَىٰٓtahwādesired
15. أَنفُسُهُمْanfusuhumtheir souls
16. فَرِيقًۭاfarīqana group
17. كَذَّبُوا۟kadhabūthey denied
18. وَفَرِيقًۭاwafarīqanand a group
19. يَقْتُلُونَyaqtulūnathey kill

وَحَسِبُوٓا۟ أَلَّا تَكُونَ فِتْنَةٌ فَعَمُوا۟ وَصَمُّوا۟ ثُمَّ تَابَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْهِمْ ثُمَّ عَمُوا۟ وَصَمُّوا۟ كَثِيرٌ مِّنْهُمْ ۚ وَٱللَّهُ بَصِيرٌۢ بِمَا يَعْمَلُونَ

Transliteration waḥasibū allā takūna fit'natun faʿamū waṣammū thumma tāba l-lahu ʿalayhim thumma ʿamū waṣammū kathīrun min'hum wal-lahu baṣīrun bimā yaʿmalūna

English And they thought there would be no [resulting] punishment, so they became blind and deaf. Then Allāh turned to them in forgiveness; then [again] many of them became blind and deaf. And Allāh is Seeing of what they do.

1. وَحَسِبُوٓا۟waḥasibūAnd they thought
2. أَلَّاallāthat not
3. تَكُونَtakūnawill be (for them)
4. فِتْنَةٌۭfit'natuna trial
5. فَعَمُوا۟faʿamūso they became blind
6. وَصَمُّوا۟waṣammūand they became deaf
7. ثُمَّthummaThen
8. تَابَtābaturned
9. ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah
10. عَلَيْهِمْʿalayhimto them
11. ثُمَّthummathen (again)
12. عَمُوا۟ʿamūthey became blind
13. وَصَمُّوا۟waṣammūand they became deaf
14. كَثِيرٌۭkathīrunmany
15. مِّنْهُمْ ۚmin'humof them
16. وَٱللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allah
17. بَصِيرٌۢbaṣīrun(is) All-Seer
18. بِمَاbimāof what
19. يَعْمَلُونَyaʿmalūnathey do

لَقَدْ كَفَرَ ٱلَّذِينَ قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ هُوَ ٱلْمَسِيحُ ٱبْنُ مَرْيَمَ ۖ وَقَالَ ٱلْمَسِيحُ يَـٰبَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ ٱعْبُدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ رَبِّى وَرَبَّكُمْ ۖ إِنَّهُۥ مَن يُشْرِكْ بِٱللَّهِ فَقَدْ حَرَّمَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ ٱلْجَنَّةَ وَمَأْوَىٰهُ ٱلنَّارُ ۖ وَمَا لِلظَّـٰلِمِينَ مِنْ أَنصَارٍ

Transliteration laqad kafara alladhīna qālū inna l-laha huwa l-masīḥu ub'nu maryama waqāla l-masīḥu yābanī is'rāīla uʿ'budū l-laha rabbī warabbakum innahu man yush'rik bil-lahi faqad ḥarrama l-lahu ʿalayhi l-janata wamawāhu l-nāru wamā lilẓẓālimīna min anṣārin

English They have certainly disbelieved who say, "Allāh is the Messiah, the son of Mary" while the Messiah has said, "O Children of Israel, worship Allāh, my Lord and your Lord." Indeed, he who associates others with Allāh - Allāh has forbidden him Paradise, and his refuge is the Fire. And there are not for the wrongdoers any helpers.

4. قَالُوٓا۟qālūsay
5. إِنَّinnaIndeed
6. ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
7. هُوَhuwaHe
8. ٱلْمَسِيحُl-masīḥu(is) the Messiah
9. ٱبْنُub'nuson
10. مَرْيَمَ ۖmaryama(of) Maryam
11. وَقَالَwaqālaWhile said
12. ٱلْمَسِيحُl-masīḥuthe Messiah
13. يَـٰبَنِىٓyābanīO Children
14. إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَis'rāīla(of) Israel
15. ٱعْبُدُوا۟uʿ'budūWorship
16. ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
17. رَبِّىrabbīmy Lord
18. وَرَبَّكُمْ ۖwarabbakumand your Lord
19. إِنَّهُۥinnahuIndeed, he
20. مَنmanwho
21. يُشْرِكْyush'rikassociates partners
22. بِٱللَّهِbil-lahiwith Allah
23. فَقَدْfaqadthen surely
24. حَرَّمَḥarrama(has) forbidden
25. ٱللَّهُl-lahuAllah
26. عَلَيْهِʿalayhifor him
27. ٱلْجَنَّةَl-janataParadise
28. وَمَأْوَىٰهُwamawāhuand his abode
29. ٱلنَّارُ ۖl-nāru(will be) the Fire
30. وَمَاwamāAnd not
31. لِلظَّـٰلِمِينَlilẓẓālimīnafor the wrongdoers
32. مِنْminany
33. أَنصَارٍۢanṣārinhelpers

لَّقَدْ كَفَرَ ٱلَّذِينَ قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ ثَالِثُ ثَلَـٰثَةٍ ۘ وَمَا مِنْ إِلَـٰهٍ إِلَّآ إِلَـٰهٌ وَٰحِدٌ ۚ وَإِن لَّمْ يَنتَهُوا۟ عَمَّا يَقُولُونَ لَيَمَسَّنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ مِنْهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ

Transliteration laqad kafara alladhīna qālū inna l-laha thālithu thalāthatin wamā min ilāhin illā ilāhun wāḥidun wa-in lam yantahū ʿammā yaqūlūna layamassanna alladhīna kafarū min'hum ʿadhābun alīmun

English They have certainly disbelieved who say, "Allāh is the third of three." And there is no god except one God. And if they do not desist from what they are saying, there will surely afflict the disbelievers among them a painful punishment.

8. ثَلَـٰثَةٍۢ ۘthalāthatin(of) three
9. وَمَاwamāAnd (there is) no
10. مِنْmin[of]
11. إِلَـٰهٍilāhingod
12. إِلَّآillāexcept
13. إِلَـٰهٌۭilāhun(the) God
14. وَٰحِدٌۭ ۚwāḥidun(the) One
15. وَإِنwa-inAnd if
16. لَّمْlamnot
17. يَنتَهُوا۟yantahūthey desist
18. عَمَّاʿammāfrom what
19. يَقُولُونَyaqūlūnathey are saying
20. لَيَمَسَّنَّlayamassannasurely will afflict
21. ٱلَّذِينَalladhīnathose who
22. كَفَرُوا۟kafarūdisbelieved
23. مِنْهُمْmin'humamong them
24. عَذَابٌʿadhābuna punishment
25. أَلِيمٌalīmunpainful
